Ships laid up on River Torridge above Instow.
Many ships were laid up above Instow during the depression in the 1920’s. This one taken in winter conditions is part of the Bill Mitchell collection.

Barge J.J.R.R.
This picture of the barge J.J.R.R. pictured at Vellator Quay is from the Bill Mitchell collection. The boat was owned by Fred Mitchell. The remains of the same or a similar barge can be seen on the coast path from Appledore to Bideford past the shipbuilders in the mud.

Ketch Ann at Combe Martin.

Ocean Gem and other boats.
The Motor Vessel Ocean Gem is tied up with other vessels alongside Rolle Quay at Barnstaple. Great Western Railway rolling stock can also be seen.
