Join us on Monday, the 20th of June for "A Lagoon Feast: Fishing in the Sechura Desert," presented by Professor Nina Laurie and Doctor Tania Mendo!

For millennia people living in the northern desert of Peru have taken advantage of the periodic but unpredictable rains known as the El Niño Phenomenon which come every few years to coastal Peru. Temporary lagoons provide abundant fishing opportunities at moments when catches from the sea cannot be relied upon. What lessons can this corner of Peru offer about how to make fishing communities more resilient in the context of climate change?

And make sure to check out "When It Rains, We Harvest" at The Scottish Fisheries Museum until the 19th of June (with a special last minute viewing at the event)!

More photos from Saturday's beach clean up event. We want to take this chance to thank the people who helped make this event possible, especially the anonymous NHS doctor who donated hot chocolate and biscuits for our hungry volunteers, The Cheesy Toast Shack for their donation of gloves so our volunteers could pick up trash safely, University of St Andrews for the use of jugs for our hot cocoa, and last, but certainly not least, the many people who gave their time and money to make this event a success and make East Sands a cleaner and safer beach for everyone to enjoy!! :)

Today we had our first event for "When It Rains, We Harvest," a Beach Clean Up at East Sands in St Andrews. It was a fantastic success! Nothing could keep our wonderful volunteers from cleaning up our beach, not swooping seagulls or sudden downpours!

Here are just a handful of pictures from our day. Feel free to tag yourself and friends!
