This year marks a new spot in history, as Shelby Cuthbert, will be the first ever girl to be 'skelped' through the Hole in the Hedge, at the traditional ceremony held at Landheads on AROM Day.

Shelby is 7 years old, and attends Newington Primary School - she told us that she is very excited for the big day, and is delighted to be the first ever girl taking on this part in Annan Riding of the Marches ancient traditions!

How fantastic does her banner look too🀩

We all hope Shelby has a fantastic time, marking a momentous occasion for AROM on their 80th Anniversary Year!

People in Annan will recognise this statue of King Robert the Bruce, Lord of Annandale. It was installed on the Town Hall in 2010 and was designed by sculptor Andrew Brown.
The design might look familiar but this isn't the final version, it is one of several designs each with minor variations to the final statue, on display in Annan Museum.
Pop in to take a look and spot the differences Monday to Saturday 11-4.

Great to see the museum's event on Saturday June 20th featured.

An amazing day at Annan Museum Part 4! Part 1 was crafts, Part 2 talks, Part 3 performance and Part 4 is fun.
We had lots of fun at our sea and ship themed day last Saturday, some of which was down to our fish hats.
If you missed this event, not to worry, our next event at Annan Museum is on June 20th aka our museum Riding of the Marches Day. Hopefully see you there!
