It's Throwback Thursday #TBT again and this week at Andover Museum and we'd like to find out if you know any information or knew friends/ family who are in this image of the last passenger train from Andover to Swindon on Sept 11, 1961? We know that the Mayor of Andover Clr B P E Machin, graces the buffer beam of the ex GWR 2-6-0 no 6395 steam loco but it would be great to learn of any memories surrounding this day or perhaps do you remember using the railway or working on the railway at Andover in the 1960s/70s and beyond! Please comment below or private message us, we'd love to hear from you for our Asking Andover living memory Exhibition.

THE ROMSEY IVORY!
The Romsey Ivory was dug up from the site of Romsey Abbey in 1922. This small relief shows an image of the Virgin with a now headless Christ child standing on her knee. She has a flower in her right hand, while Christ holds an apple in his left. Traces of red paint remain on the folds of the Virgin’s robe. The carving was produced in France between 1250 and 1350 AD.

Help us solve the mystery of Woodhouse Bakery!

Does anyone have any information about Mr A F Loveridge and his Woodhouse Bakery, Woodhouse, Smannell?

Hampshire Cultural Trust have a series of images of the bakery after it had closed down but there is no history file for them or any information to date the images.
The photos almost look as though someone has gone out and taken a whole load of record shots sometime after it closed and before it was either converted to something else or demolished.
We are Asking Andover if you can shed any light on these fascinating images? Any information provided would really enhance this archive and help us to solve the mystery of Woodhouse Bakery!

If you have any information, please email [email protected]
