Richard Daniels.Creigiau Mawr Pottery

Richard Daniels.Creigiau Mawr Pottery Welcome to my page my name is Richard Daniels. My life as a professional potter began at art college in Cheshire in 1969, where I studied Industrial Ceramics.

I then worked in potteries throughout the UK and Europe and in 1976 I studied studio pottery at Harrow college of art, graduating with commendation in 1978. In 1980 I established a commercial pottery business on the Wirral peninsula, making thrown domestic stoneware, terra-cotta garden pots and slip-cast / jigger - jollied white earthenware. In 1994 I moved with my family to our small - holding on

the Isle of Anglesey, where I have established my current studio making high-fired stoneware and porcelain. My work is constantly changing, varying in shape, colour, texture and function. Most of my work is thrown and often altered in shape and textured at the wet stage. I apply varied coloured layers of slip and up to seven overlays of glaze, creating depth of colour and variation in the final work. I am a qualified teacher and work through the Arts Agency within schools and Colleges and we also run courses from the pottery during the Summer months.
