For our younger visitors; see what you’d look like dressed as a Mayor plus activities such as Discovery trail, colouring and a free walking trail with Snooks, Aldeburgh’s favourite, always dressed for the occasion dog.

Thanks to support from East Suffolk Council & Heritage Open Days we're opening our doors for FREE on 2 days this year. The theme this year is 'Everyday Histories' so being a museum, we showcase Aldeburgh's diverse history every day.

There's something for everyone 'Up The Steps' and through the heavy wooden door. Will you add to your history and visit?

Our museum is open daily 1-4pm (with the exception of carnival Monday when we're closed).

P.S Be sure to join us on Wednesday & Thursday outside the Moot Hall where you'll find our storyteller shooting his tales from the hip. FREE.

We're thrilled with our new and improved flip book that tells the history of the Moot Hall. Thanks to East Suffolk Council for their funding support.

There's lots going on in the museum this summer including a new Children's Letter Hunt. What is the word? Is it in the flip book?

There are some superb finds in the Reades ledgers. This 1935 new build bungalow in Wilby for Miss Capon required the services of a water diviner, for which he was paid a handsome sum.

Tyring to match the entries with current house names is a fun task. How do you identify which is the "new house in Saxmundham road" or "4 cottages in Beccles"? 🤷‍♀️
