Le Camp Geronimo de l'Airborne Museum

🇫🇷Pour cette édition 2026 du Camp Geronimo, l’une des nouveautés, c’était la présence de la 4è compagnie de combat du 17e RGP (Régiment du Génie Parachutiste) de Montauban à Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Au terme d’une course en relais de 800km qui les a vus rallier le Mont Saint Michel, au profit des blessés de l’armée de terre, la compagnie, venue participer aux commémorations du 82è anniversaire, en a profité pour se joindre aux reconstitueurs pour réaliser certaines des démonstrations parachutistes. Le but : illustrer les différences dans la technologie parachutiste entre 1944 et nos jours, apportant une nouvelle perspective à ces animations. Les soldats de la compagnie se sont également joint au défilé du dimanche 7, et ont en outre pu faire quelques tours de chars !

🇺🇸One of the new features of the 2026 edition of Camp Geronimo was the presence of the 4th Combat Company of the 17th Parachute Engineer Regiment from Montauban in Sainte-Mère-Eglise. After completing an 800-kilometer relay race that took them to Mont Saint-Michel, in support of wounded Army personnel, the company—which had come to participate in the 82nd anniversary commemorations—took the opportunity to join the reenactors in performing some of the parachuting demonstrations. The goal: to illustrate the differences in parachuting technology between 1944 and today, bringing a new perspective to these events. The company’s soldiers also joined the parade on Sunday the 7th and even got to take a few laps in tanks!

🇫🇷Toutes les bonnes choses ont une fin. Cette année, le Camp Geronimo aura ouvert ses portes cinq jours durant, mais en comptant l'installation et le démontage, les reconstitueurs ont été sur place pendant plus d'une semaine (notamment pour l'acheminement des véhicules lourds) pour vous proposer toutes les animations et ateliers de cette édition 2026, sans compter sur les mois de préparation qui l'ont précédée. Tout cela pour un résultat toujours de très haute qualité, en compagnie de gens passionnés.

🙏Pour cela, et plus encore, l'Airborne Museum et le Camp Geronimo tiennent à remercier tous les associations qui ont participé à faire de ce 82è anniversaire un moment d'exception:

🇺🇸All good things must come to an end. This year, Camp Geronimo was open for five days, but including setup and takedown, the reenactors were on site for over a week (especially to transport the heavy vehicles) to bring you all the activities and workshops for this 2026 edition, not to mention the months of preparation that preceded it. All of this resulted in a consistently high-quality event, thanks to the dedication of passionate people.

🙏For this, and so much more, the Airborne Museum and Camp Geronimo would like to thank all the organizations that helped make this 82nd anniversary an exceptional occasion:

🇫🇷[ANNONCE] Voici le circuit du défilé historique au cours duquel les véhicules du Camp Geronimo ainsi que les militaires des différentes nations présentes vont passer dans les rues de Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Contrairement aux dernières éditions, cette fois, la parade tournera à l'angle du Bistrot 44 pour passer devant l'Airborne Museum, au lieu de passer en ligne droite à travers le village.

Afin de préparer le défilé, le Camp Geronimo fermera définitivement ses portes à 17h dernier délai. Merci de votre compréhension.

🇺🇸[ANNOUNCEMENT] Here is the route of today's historical parade scheduled for 7pm, during which vehicles from Camp Geronimo and military personnel from the various nations taking part will pass through the streets of Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Unlike in previous years, this time the parade will turn at the corner of Bistrot 44 to pass in front of the Airborne Museum, rather than proceeding in a straight line through the village.

In preparation for the parade, Camp Geronimo will close its doors permanently at 5:00 p.m. sharp. Thank you for your understanding.
