Atlântico Negro by Antonio Sergio Moreira is a visual echo of the Afro-Brazilian diaspora.

Through 16 abstract mixed technique small canvases, a cultural memory that flows into form, blending ancestral roots and modern rhythm into striking gestures of identity.

Antonio Sergio Moreira’s “Atlântico Negro – Okoto” series of artworks is a symbolic abstract exploration of the African Diaspora History.

ONLINE EXHIBITION OVERVIEW
Antonio Sergio Moreira presents Atlântico Negro – Okoto, a solo online exhibition composed of 16 abstract mixed-media canvases, each measuring 37 cm × 40 cm (14.5 in × 15.7 in).

Created in 2006, this body of work, although modest in physical scale, possesses a profound visual and symbolic impact.

The paintings explore the complex dimensions of the Afro-Brazilian diaspora through symbolism and abstraction, encoding a rich tapestry of African and diasporic symbols that transcend borders and eras.

Art connects us all.

The opening of the Coletivo do Vale exhibition today brought a quiet, resonant beauty into the gallery, a beauty shaped from earth, memory and the ancestral gestures that define the Vale do Jequitinhonha.

Each sculpture carries the weight of lived experience and the lightness of imagination, forming a dialogue that transcends geography and language.

In their presence, one feels how art becomes a bridge: between communities, between generations, between ways of seeing the world.

In this atmosphere of depth and reflection, we had the pleasure of welcoming Silvia Poppovic - to me, one of the most competent and refined journalists of our generation in Brazil.

Silvia's presence added a thoughtful and attentive dimension to the day, aligning naturally with the spirit of the exhibition. She confirmed the stunning beauty of the sculptures by Coletivo do Vale and her presence reveals the profound connection that only art can create.

It has been a real journey, visits of art lovers, curators, art collectors, Institutions.

Artworks acquired by important collections, discussed and explored by people that want to expand and give space to conceptual subjects.

The way we can evaluate a good and exceptional show is exactly how it dealt with the public and how far its presence made a difference during the time it was on display.

Ultimately, what defines the true impact of an exhibition is the resonance it leaves behind, the ideas it activates, the dialogues it generates, and the ways in which it expands the cultural and intellectual landscape.

A show becomes exceptional when it continues to live beyond its physical duration, shaping perspectives, inspiring research, and contributing meaningfully to the ongoing construction of contemporary thought.

Luiz Martins gave us it all and the sensation of the continuity of this dialogue throughout time, beyond our gallery spaces.
