Guido Romero Pierini and Tristan Paprocki join forces in 2020 to found the Romero Paprocki gallery, representing contemporary rising and mid-career french and international artists. For the gallery, settings support any given discourse that highlights the artist’s work as well as his thoughts, the revelation of a shape, its dialogue, its structure of meaning and its articulation. The gallery has to be a unique spacetime, equally favorable to reflection and contemplation, to exchange as much as to introspection. Guido and Tristan also choose spaces for their museum-like scale so that they live up to the quality of the works that are being displayed in them, with a steady desire to formulate a discourse both visible and legible at the service of art. Last days in Milano!

« The exhibition ‘Memoria di forma’ unfolds this poetics of the « before » and « after. » This dynamic of tension and release, akin to a spring where form remains in a state of potentiality and stands ready to reconfigure itself, runs through the practices and works of Sila Candansayar, Clédia Fourniau, and Nefeli Papadimouli.

This shape memory is embedded in the very structure of Sila Candansayar’s sculpture. Her forms, stretched and articulated, seem to hold like bodies in latency, in equilibrium, in tension, on the verge of a tipping point. Polished wood and blown glass retain the trace of the gestures that shaped them: sanding, carrying, adjusting, and balancing. The sculpture does not represent a body; it reenacts its constraints (weight, gravity, resistance) to the point of manifesting a presence. These anthropomorphic forms, without face or narrative, appear as suspended postures, as possible bodies rather than incarnate ones. They evoke a transitory state, as if the form could at any moment readjust itself, shift its center, or find a new balance. »

The exhibition ‘Memoria di forma’ is on view in Milan until September 26, curated by Anne-Laure Peressin (.peressin) and featuring Sila Candansayar (Sila Candansayar), Clédia Fourniau (Clédia Fourniau) and Nefeli Papadimouli (Nefeli Papadimouli).

‘Shape memory, when applied to materials, refers to their ability to return to an initial state after deformation. This property involves a form of material intelligence: something acts, moves, imprints itself within the matter, and then restores itself. To this technical dimension is articulated a more diffuse memory, linked to the trace: that of the gesture, the impact, and the aftereffect. Much like a mattress or a cushion, which record a body before releasing it, form results from a tension between the individual imprint (its presence in the negative) and this capacity to reenact what has passed through it.

As for the works of Nefeli Papadimouli, shape memory is embodied in textile envelopes, or “skin-costumes,” that preserve the imprint of the body. Whether suspended or activated, these forms appear as available matrices, ready to be inhabited, moved, or reenacted. Each passage from one body to another actualizes this memory and displaces it. It is no longer merely an individual memory, but an expanded, collective bodily memory where form circulates, is transmitted, and is transformed’

The exhibition brings together around thirty poems, offering the public direct access to the dialogue between Michel Houellebecq’s text and Louis Paillard’s watercolours.

The gallery is delighted to present ‘Poèmes
graphiques’ on September 4 in Paris, an exhibition of the original watercolors from the new volume of poetry by Michel Houellebecq and Louis Paillard, published by Flammarion.

The exhibition brings together around thirty poems, offering the public direct access to the dialogue between Michel Houellebecq’s text and Louis Paillard’s watercolours.

To mark the occasion, a signing session for the pre-launch of the book with Louis Paillard and Michel Houellebecq will be held at the gallery from 5 to 7 pm on September 4 with a Ex-libris offers to the first 300 people to purchase the book at the gallery.

The opening will take place from 4pm to 9pm.

In this room, Lou Ros (Lou Ros) pairs with a photography of Wolfgang Tillmans acquired by the SAJ collection at Galerie Chantal Crousel

‘Tag Nacht’ brings together six artists whose work traces lines of influence, admiration and exchange across generations. The result is a multi-layered dialogue brought to life through formal echoes, material affinities and newly created works face to face with works from the SAJ collection.
