Contemporary and modern art gallery in Paris and Brussels, representing artists with forward-thinking and singular practices.

La Galerie Éric Mouchet représente essentiellement de jeunes artistes contemporains aux démarches prospectives, dont les sujets de recherche portent sur la géopolitique, la sociologie, l’écologie, les questions de société et de genre, sans limitation de média ou de forme (performance, installation, vidéo, photographie, dessin). La Galerie Éric Mouchet bénéficie également d’une expertise dans les avant-gardes historiques françaises et allemandes (Le Corbusier, Schwitters, Ella Bergmann-Michel et Robert Michel…), qui offre la possibilité de confrontations et d’interconnexions entre l’art du XXème siècle et l’art vivant d’aujourd’hui. Depuis 2022, la galerie a ouvert un nouvel espace à Bruxelles, en partenariat avec la Galerie Martin Kudlek (Cologne) et Patrick Heide Contemporary Art (Londres). Située avenue Van Volxem 333 à Forest, face au centre d’art contemporain WIELS et contiguë du Galila’s POC, espace de la collectionneuse Galila Barzilai Hollander, cette maison vernaculaire 1900 de 400 m2 offre trois étages d’expositions et un jardin qui accueillera la programmation belge des trois galeries associées. La galerie est membre du Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art et du réseau Paris Gallery Map.

[Anniversary] Today, Galerie Eric Mouchet celebrates the 130th birth anniversary of Ella Bergmann-Michel (1896-1871).

Born in Paderborn, she was one of the most original voices of the German avant-garde: a student at the Weimar School of Art from 1915, the only woman invited by Walter Gropius in 1919 to announce the opening of the Bauhaus, a close friend of Kurt Schwitters, and later a committed photographer and filmmaker of the « Neue Frankfurt ». Galerie Eric Mouchet is proud to exclusively represent the estate of Ella Bergmann-Michel and Robert Michel ().

This anniversary takes on a special meaning this week, as the gallery presents at Art Basel Paris a solo show devoted to her husband, Robert Michel. A test pilot-turned-artist after his plane crash in 1916, he formed with Ella one of the most romantic, avant-garde and least studied artist couples of the first half of the 20th century.

The two artists are also reunited in our Paris gallery with the duo show ‘Heimatmuseum of Modern Art’, on view until October 31st. A rare opportunity to discover their dialogue, from Dada and Constructivism to photography, film and collage.

[Last two weeks] ‘Under the Chandelier’ by Liza Sivakova (Liza Sivakova) • Galerie Eric Mouchet, Brussels

Two weeks left to discover ‘Under the Chandelier’, the first solo exhibition in Belgium of Liza Sivakova, on view until Saturday 31 October at Galerie Eric Mouchet Brussels.

Bringing together recent oil paintings, the exhibition is anchored by ‘The Elephant in the room’ series (2026), in which the animal, incongruous and massive, bursts into hushed bourgeois interiors while the other figures remain entirely unbothered by its presence. ‘Siesta’ (2026) and ‘Feeding Time’ (2026) continue this tipping of the domestic scene into the uncanny, while ‘Peace Treaty? III’ (2025), drawing on historical diplomatic iconography, questions the staging of power and state reconciliation. The two panels of ‘Dancing Queen’ (2026) depict dancing figures caught in an almost unravelling motion, poised between ritual and loss of control.

The exhibition also presents a new body of pastels on paper mounted on wood, alongside paper collages made from archival photographs and worked over with tempera, in which Sivakova continues her ongoing work of recomposing the historical image. While oil painting forms the core of her practice, she also works with glazed ceramic tiles, extending her investigation of image-making and historical representation into other media and scales.

While we take part in Art Basel Paris, our Brussels gallery remains open to the public, so you can still visit the exhibition during the fair.

‘Sh*tsukan of Objects’ is presented at Halle Bernier, the new digital venue in Montereau, as part of its inaugural exhibition.
Immersive video installation, stereolithographic sculptures and sound design by Christina Vantzou.

Commissioned for the 2019 Lyon Biennale, curated by the Palais de Tokyo (Palais de Tokyo), ‘Sh*tsukan of Objects’ is an immersive installation exploring the relationships between body, technology and perception. The work takes the form of a video triptych inhabited by hybrid figures composed from computer-generated images, medical data, 3D scans and digital modelling technologies. Between appearance and disappearance, these presences move through a landscape where the boundaries between human and machine become porous.

The title refers to the Japanese term sh*tsukan, which describes the perceptual mechanisms that allow us to grasp the material qualities of an object, such as its texture, density or luminosity. Through this notion, Eva L’Hoest questions how contemporary technologies shape our relationship to reality and images today.

The installation is accompanied by a sculpture made from the anatomical data of the Visible Human Project and produced using stereolithography techniques, notably used in the reconstruction of archaeological artefacts. These forms extend the figures seen on screen into physical space and question the new representations of the body generated by digital tools.

[Fair — Art Basel Paris] Solo presentation by Robert Michel • Stand O.P11, Secteur Premise, Grand Palais • From October 21 to 25, 2026

Galerie Eric Mouchet is delighted to announce its second participation in Art Basel Paris with a solo show, on booth O.P11, of the German avant-garde artist Robert Michel ().

After crashing his aircraft in 1916, the young Robert Michel found refuge at the Weimar School of Fine Arts. Inspired by the Futurist way of representing movement, by his flying experience and by his own passion for speed and technology, he filled his work with mechanical patterns. From 1917, a founder of the Weimar Dada section, he developed an almost psychedelic mode of expression, painting three-dimensional, unrealistic images that combine huge gear wheels with figures and modern means of transportation before turning abstract.

The collection of about 30 works we are presenting in the Premise section of Art Basel Paris 2026 is the result of more than 20 years of research and acquisitions. Works shown on the booth date between 1919 and 1933. Works of comparable quality can only be seen in a handful of museums such as at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Sprengel Museum Hannover, and the collection of the City of Paderborn.

Among the most important and original artists of the twentieth-century German avant-garde, they befriended Kurt Schwitters, spent a semester at the Bauhaus in Weimar, and each developed a personal style between Dadaism, Constructivism and Purism. Robert explored mechanics and geometry through drawings and collages, while Ella worked across art, photography and film.

[Off-site Exhibition] Pierre Gaignard (Pierre Gaignard) and Galerie Eric Mouchet are pleased to share his participation, with the works ‘𝙂𝙧𝙞𝙯𝙖:𝙟 𝙃𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩’, in ‘Hypothèse de lecture’, a group exhibition inaugurating the Ancient Library of Trinità dei Monti (Trinità dei Monti), curated by Gaia Bobò (Gaia Bobò) and Teresa Ranchino (Teresa).

Bringing together artists from the Italian and French scenes, the exhibition takes place in a library whose collection of around nine thousand volumes was dispersed in 1798, beneath one of the most monumental painted wooden ceilings in Rome. Conceived around a phantom architecture designed by Belgian architect Olivier Goethals (Olivier Goethals (All/No-thing)), the show reflects on loss and dispersal of memory, the relationship between word and image, and the generative dimension of destruction and fragmentation.

[Off-site Exhibition] Eva L’Hoest (Eva L'Hoest) and Galerie Eric Mouchet are pleased to share her participation in ‘Mirages’, a group exhibition marking Stereolux / Scopitone‘s 15th anniversary, curated by Anne-Laure Belloc (Anne-Laure Belloc).

Within the exhibition, Eva presents her show ‘Calentures’, bringing three bodies of work into dialogue - ‘The Inmost Cell’ (2020), ‘Inkstand/Fragments of Intents’ (2025), and ‘Pareidolia’ (2015), tracing spaces where reality is continually reconfigured by technical and imaginary forces.

‘Pareidolia’ (2015) follows a Mediterranean island of pink granite and lava reefs, its anthropomorphic rock formations once used by lost sailors as landmarks. Filmed handheld with a camcorder and a motorcycle headlight, these rocks become the theatre of an incessant mineral drift, between digital and rocky grain, in which figures run aground and resurface anew. ‘The Inmost Cell’ (2020–2021), a video and two laser-engraved crystal sculptures originally created for the Riga International Biennial (RIBOCA2), departs from a calenture - a maritime mirage in which the sea appears as a meadow - and the ruins of three islands submerged during the construction of the Riga dam. Beneath the chandeliers of bourgeois living rooms, opulent dining rooms and hushed offices, Liza Sivakova’s paintings depict interiors where decorum quietly unravels: an elephant crashes into a dinner party, a man collapses beneath a table, a woman dances barefoot on a Persian rug while, around her, suited figures carry on their conversations as if nothing were happening.

‘Under the Chandelier’ brings together a group of recent paintings, alongside pastels and collages, that explore, beneath a veneer of elegance and ceremony, the mechanisms through which power is staged, normalised, and passed on.
