Galerie Eric Mouchet

Galerie Eric Mouchet Contemporary and modern art gallery in Paris and Brussels, representing artists with forward-thinking and singular practices.

[Artist focus] Galerie Eric Mouchet Brussels is delighted to announce Liza Sivakova’s (Liza Sivakova) first solo exhibition in Belgium, ‘Under the Chandelier’ from September 10th to October 31st.

➞ Preview: Tuesday 8 September from 5 to 9 pm
➞ RendezVous opening: Thursday 10 September from 1 to 9 pm

Liza Sivakova’s practice investigates the visual mechanisms through which power is constructed, legitimised, and remembered. Combining archival imagery, found photographs, collage, and her own materials, she creates multilayered, transhistorical paintings in which historical realities and fiction converge. By appropriating and reconfiguring familiar visual languages, symbols, and historical references, her work examines how images shape political narratives, collective perception, and systems of authority.

Educated at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts, Sivakova continued her artistic development at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Dresden and the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris.

Her work is held in the collections of the Städtische Galerie Dresden, the STRABAG Art Collection, and the Kunstsammlung des Bodenseekreises, and she was recently featured by ARTE.

[Save the date] ‘Hard Edge, Soft Core’ - a solo show by Samir Mougas (Samir Mougas), now extended until October 31 • Galerie Eric Mouchet, Brussels

➞ Preview: Tuesday 8 September from 5 to 9 pm
➞ RendezVous opening: Thursday 10 September from 1 to 9 pm (RendezVous - Brussels Art Week)

Following the success of the exhibition, Samir Mougas and Galerie Eric Mouchet are pleased to announce that the show will remain on view until the end of July.

‘Hard Edge, Soft Core’ brings together sculptures, ceramics and paintings, and marks a significant milestone in the artist’s career: it is the first time these different practices are shown simultaneously, revealing in full the coherence of a visual language that is both rich and singular.

Born in 1980, Samir Mougas has spent over twenty years developing a sculptural practice driven by an insatiable curiosity for everyday objects and technological imaginaries. His work draws from a deliberately eclectic visual repertoire — electronic music, science fiction, car tuning, industrial design — to produce works that resist easy categorisation. Each series reflects a constant appetite for shifting techniques and registers, from industrial foundry to glazed ceramics, from moulding to acrylic painting, resin and AI-assisted image generation.

Galerie Eric Mouchet is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Belgium of Russian artist based between Dresden and Paris Liza Sivakova, ‘Under the Chandelier’, at Galerie Eric Mouchet Brussels.

Beneath the chandeliers of bourgeois living rooms, opulent dining rooms and hushed offices, Sivakova’s paintings depict interiors where decorum quietly unravels: an elephant crashes into a dinner party, a man collapses beneath a table, a woman dances barefoot on a table while, around her, suited figures carry on their conversations as if nothing were happening.

‘Under the Chandelier’ brings together a group of the artist’s recent oil paintings, alongside a new body of pastels and collages, exploring, beneath a veneer of elegance and ceremony, the mechanisms through which power is staged, normalised, and passed on.

[Institutional collection] Eva L’Hoest () & Galerie Eric Mouchet are delighted to announce that ‘Under Automata’ (2020) has entered the collection of the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique in Brussels (), where it is now on view in the museum’s contemporary section.

➞ Tuesday to Friday: 10am-5pm / Weekends: 11am-6pm
➞ Rue de la Régence 3, 1000 Brussels

Above the Atlantic, sleeping passengers are scanned by the artist along the aisle of a plane during a long-haul flight, using a camera borrowed from the video game industry. As an anthropometric tool, this camera shares its underlying technology with the «Full Body Scan» - the surveillance system deployed at airport borders. The bodies and objects are partially re-composed by the software, which gives rise to a cinematographic pan as well as a substance-image vision.

[Off-site Exhibition] Pierre Gaignard (Pierre Gaignard ) & Galerie Eric Mouchet are pleased to announce his participation in the group exhibition ‘2 Feux, 2 Flammes (두 도시, 하나의 불꽃)’ at the Jeonnam Museum of Art (전남미술관 JMA) in Korea, on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France.

➞ Opening on August 4th from 3pm
➞ Exhibition from August 4 to November 8, 2026

‘2 Feux, 2 Flammes (두 도시, 하나의 불꽃)’ is an international exchange project jointly organized by the Jeonnam Museum of Art, Le Wonder (LE WONDER) and Institut Français. The cultural exchange between Korea and France, which has continued for over 140 years, has given rise to new sensibilities and modes of thought in every era. This project seeks to carry that long-standing relationship forward into the present, giving young artists from both countries the opportunity to experience each other’s cities and work together, in pursuit of sustainable exchange through contemporary art.

With works by: Antonin Hako, Charlotte Janis, Nelson Pernisco, Pierre Gaignard, Valentine Gardiennet, YoungChan KO, Inhyuk PARK, Hyesung JUNG & Hanna CHO.

It isn’t simply an exhibition documenting a single project, seeking instead to view the relationship formed between the two cities as an ongoing, present-tense state directed toward the future. Beyond the works on view, the time and space shared by the artists, and the sensory traces accumulated in between, will serve as fertile ground for further creation and collaboration to come.

[Artist Focus] With the exhibition closing this Saturday, we’re happy to look back on ‘Printemps Paramétrique’ by Pierre Gaignard (), presented at Galerie Eric Mouchet Paris. The exhibition traveled to Brussels at the end of 2025 before continuing in Paris in 2026 💛

Our gallery in Paris then stays open all summer long with the ‘Summer Show’, from August 1st to September 12th, featuring Wells Chandler (), Christine Crozat (), Bertrand Hugues (), Kubra Khademi (.khademi), Eva L’Hoest (), Louis-Cyprien Rials () and Pierre Gaignard ☀️

____

All of Pierre Gaignard’s work explores the relationship between past and present through systems that blend craftsmanship, mechanical devices, and digital tools. Using artificial intelligence, he deconstructs and recomposes hidden forms, which he then reveals through light, sound, or matter — engaging both his own body and that of the viewer in the process. […]

Between research, experimentation, and low tech, Pierre Gaignard’s works transform existing materials into objects of thought and poetry. They open up a space where aesthetics meet memory, where technology becomes a sensitive matter, where light illuminates not only form but also the gaze we cast upon the world.
