Today, we celebrate Alberto Giacometti, born on 10 October 1901.

Discover his iconic “Egyptian” lamp, created for Jean-Michel Frank and presented here alongside the luminous mirror compositions of Line Vautrin.

Echoing the timeless forms of ancient Egypt, its sculptural silhouette conveys a striking sense of monumentality. A captivating dialogue of form, light and reflection.

An elegant Art Deco ensemble bringing together works by Eugène Printz, Clément Rousseau, Eugénie O’Kin and Ivan da Silva Bruhns.

At the centre, a 1932 sideboard by Eugène Printz in Rio rosewood veneer, accompanied by a pair of armchairs in Brazilian rosewood, c. 1929.

The ensemble is completed by a side table by Clément Rousseau c.1925, a sculptural covered pot by Eugénie O’Kin, c. 1930, and a geometric rug by Ivan da Silva Bruhns, c. 1930.

A selection of vases by Claudius Linossier will also be presented during the MaSH evening on October 19th at Galerie Marcilhac – Rive Droite MaSH

PIERRE CHAREAU at RIVE DROITE Gallery 💫

Model designed by Pierre Chareau in 1923.
H 183 cm – H 72 in.

Created in the early 1920s, the “Religieuse” – or SN31 – floor lamp stands among Pierre Chareau’s masterpieces in lighting design, balancing poetic form and architectural precision.

Its nickname comes from its silhouette, reminiscent of a nun’s habit: the alabaster shade, set within a black metal frame, unfolds like a starched headdress. The light, softened by the translucent stone, diffuses a quiet, almost spiritual radiance.

The shaft, crafted from padauk wood, reveals Chareau’s mastery of contrast — between density and delicacy, structure and luminosity.
A functional object turned luminous sculpture, the Religieuse captures Chareau’s vision of modernity: spiritual, sensual, and architectural.

Art Déco Insights is a new online feature dedicated to ongoing research on Art Deco. For the first edition of the feature, we are delighted to highlight the work of Claudius Linossier through an article by Louis Pierson, an art historian specializing in Art Deco, exploring Linossier’s career and artistic practice. The online publication of the article will coincide with the MaSH evening on October 19.

A video series entitled « Claudius Linossier – An Intimate Portrait in Seven Episodes » accompanies this initiative on Instagram and YouTube, starting on September 19.

In this second episode of intimates portraits, Louis Pierson explains us the origins and the techniques of the ancient art of dinanderie. 🏺

The interplay between architecture, ornament and the natural colours of contrasting materials is characteristic of Bugatti’s work around 1900. Contemporary cabinets preserved or documented elsewhere employ the same vocabulary of parchment, dark wood, pewter and brass inlay, and repoussé metalwork. References to Oriental, Islamic and Japanese art are absorbed rather than literally reproduced. Here, the monumentality of the construction contrasts with the precious quality of its surfaces: broad parchment panels are punctuated by metal inlays, cabochons and geometric motifs that structure the façades.

Preserved together, the two cabinets acquire a particularly architectural presence: conceived as pendants, they transform repetition and symmetry into integral elements of the composition.

Created around 1900, this pair of cabinets belongs to the period in which Carlo Bugatti developed his most distinctive artistic vocabulary. Moving beyond the conventions of traditional cabinetmaking, he conceived furniture as architecture, combining materials rarely brought together: dark woods, parchment, pewter, brass and repoussé metalwork.
