☀️ GALERIE FLAK • AIX-EN-PROVENCE • SUMMER 2026 ☀️

Every summer, we leave Paris for two months to set up beneath the Provençal sun — right across from the Sainte-Victoire Mountain.
We'll be there from July 1st through August 30th.
Far from the art fair circuit, this is something quieter: ancient works from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas, and the time to look at them slowly. ✨

Visits by appointment only — we love taking the time to chat and explore the works together, at your own pace. DM us to book.

📍 Aix-en-Provence: July 1 – August 30
📍Paris: as always, Galerie Flak remains in Paris the rest of the year, by appointment.

Kokopelli: The Breath of Renewal. 🌬️✨
A wandering spirit and a potent symbol of fertility, Kokopelli is one of the most compelling figures in Pueblo cosmogony. Far more than a mere icon, he embodies the song of the earth and the eternal, joyous cycle of life.
With its arched, rhythmic posture and striking chromatic depth, this archaic Hopi Katsina doll radiates a rare spiritual energy—the kind of presence that truly commands the space around it.
Every piece I select for the gallery carries this same vital quality: it is not just an object of beauty, but a living bridge to a world of sound and ceremony.
Does Kokopelli’s song resonate with you? 🎶

🌵Trading Posts🌵
The Original Old Curio Store, Santa Fe, ca. 1890.
When the dust of the frontier settled, the Trading Posts became the unlikely guardians of the Southwest's greatest treasures. In the shadows of J.S. Candelario's store, masterpieces were already waiting for pioneering collectors on crowded shelves.
We often call these places "Trading Posts," but they were far more: vital contact zones where Pueblo and Navajo artistry first met the global stage. Behind the counter and tucked away in every corner were Katsina dolls, pottery, and weavings — each carrying a power that transcended the dusty frontier setting.
More than 130 years later, the way I practice this métier has profoundly changed. Our field is now defined by rigorous provenance, scientific scholarship, and strict ethical standards. Yet the essence remains untouched.
That specific adrenaline of discovering an object that radiates history and soul — the thrill of the hunt is exactly the same as it was back then.
What is the first thing your eye catches in this beautiful maze?

The Tribal Art Market: A Shift Toward Excellence.
Honored to be featured in the 2026 Report on African, Asian, Oceanic & Native American Arts.

Three things I believe in deeply right now:
→ Bold, singular works win in uncertain times.
→ Education turns curious buyers into true collectors.
→ The classics never lie — they belong to art history itself.

Object Focus Ep. 3 — The Wirigo Mask 🎬
One curve. One gesture. Everything said.
Welcome to a new episode of Object Focus. Today, we travel to West Africa to discover a piece of absolute elegance: the Wirigo mask.

Born of myth and speed, this mask embodies the antelope. But what strikes you first is the genius of its minimalism—that breathtaking sweeping arc, rising toward the sky until it almost vanishes into air.

In this episode:
✨ The secret behind its sculptural, "spare" silhouette.
🎥 A rare archive from 1975 — Sir David Attenborough capturing the Wirigo in motion.
✨ Why this object was never meant to stand still.

It is a masterpiece of the Burkina Faso region, shaped by centuries of cultural interweaving between the Dogon, Kurumba, and Mossi peoples.

What strikes you most about this silhouette? The power of the curve or the simplicity of the face? 💬

This Wirigo mask will be a centerpiece of "Conversations", our collaborative exhibition with during Paris Tribal.
