Who was Nadar ?
Nadar transformed society portraiture by establishing photography as an alternative to painting. Through a keen eye and exceptional sensitivity, he succeeded in capturing the individuality and character of his subjects.
A tireless innovator, he devised pioneering techniques that allowed him to photograph underground Paris, from the Catacombs to the sewers, as well as the modern metropolis from the air. In doing so, he profoundly renewed the public’s vision of the city, revealing Paris from perspectives never before accessible.
