« The exhibition Abstraction, Abstractions! sets out to explore the vitality of one of the founding practices of modern and contemporary art by asking a series of simple questions: What remains of abstraction today? What forms does it take? How is it being reinvented, or how does it unfold within contemporary artistic creation? Through a selection of works produced from the late twentieth century to the present day, art historian and museum curator Thierry Davila, curator of the exhibition, offers a critical and sensitive journey through a territory that is as vast as it is elusive. Rather than attempting to confine abstraction within a single definition, the exhibition embraces its plurality—hence its title in the plural, resonating like a multiplied echo. Abstraction is presented here as a fluid and evolving field, shaped by diverse intentions, heterogeneous forms, and distant geographies. « Aby Warburg called it Nachleben, afterlife: a gesture that outlives the body which first made it, lying dormant for centuries before it resurfaces, still charged, in a body that has never heard of it. Images survive their occasion. They travel, they wait, they come back altered. Nothing here is lifted whole and held up for recognition; that would be appropriation, which needs the source remembered in order to work. This is closer to inheritance: unchosen, unrefusable, arriving whether or not it was asked for. Each artist is a place where an image, a gesture, or a grammar re-enters the world in a form its origin would not recognise.
Prinz Gholam anchor the exhibition. Their drawings are made by two people at once, four hands on one sheet, with no plan; what surfaces comes from memory rather than reference, and the same rabbit keeps returning across sheets like something the hands can’t stop reaching for. It arrives already carrying weight.

For his third exhibition with the gallery, Santiago de Paoli presents 𝘙𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘰𝘵, a solo show unfolding across two venues in Paris.

This enigmatic and surreal title is borrowed from a series of paintings made using a variety of unconventional materials: wood, copper, cork stoppers, dried leaves, and even peanuts.

Santiago de Paoli continues his painterly exploration, in which images seem to emerge from a dream or a fragmentary memory populated by moons, landscapes, bodies, domestic objects, and organic forms. Oscillating between nature, magic, and abstraction, these elements are permeated by a constant tension between humour, poetry, and strangeness.

𝘙𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘏𝘰𝘵 brings together a new body of monumental works, presented for the first time. The exhibition marks a new stage in the artist’s practice, in which the materiality of the works becomes an increasingly open field of experimentation.

𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 Born in Buenos Aires in 1978, Santiago de Paoli lives and works in Stanford, New York. Recent solo exhibitions include Inside the Red Barn at OSMOS Station (2022); A leaf in the wind at Galerie Jocelyn Wolff, Paris-Romainville (2021); Bebê Rasteja at Mendes Wood DM, São Paulo (2019–2020); Entre nosotros y el objeto at Móvil (2016); Pescado y Papas at Wireless Ridge (2015); and The New Society at Swan Coach House Gallery (2007).

His work has also been presented in numerous group exhibitions, including at Site SANTA FE 12th International (2025), the X Museum (2021), the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires (2019), the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Paloma (2018), the Musée d’art contemporain de la Haute-Vienne – Château de Rochechouart (2018), and Lulu Gallery (2017).

We present « exhaling, then inhaling » the first significant exhibition after the passing of the artist William Anastasi (1933-2023), as one of the founders of Minimal and Conceptual Art. Curated by Dove Bradshaw, the exhibition recreates groundbreaking historical work from 1964-1968 that announces the primacy of the space itself. A 1965 Wall Removal is reactivated for the first time, and a video sculpture conceived in 1968 will be premiered. The exhibition highlights Anastasi’s pioneering explorations establishing the site as a concept per se. Thus he radically expanded the relationship between artwork, space, time and the final destination of the viewer. As Anastasi concludes, “The Here and the Now.”

C’est par Franz Erhard Walther que nous avons pu connaître Christian Bernard, qui fut pendant vingt ans un extraordinaire compagnon de route de la galerie.

Loyauté
Il consacra une exposition à Franz Erhard Walther à la Villa Arson, accompagnée d’un catalogue assorti d’un très précieux et original glossaire permettant de comprendre la pensée de l’artiste. L’exposition de Franz Erhard Walther au MAMCO, à Genève, où tout le musée est donné à l’artiste, qui peut enfin déployer son projet : l’œuvre d’art est une action.

La bibliothèque de Christian nourrissait son immense culture. Lors de nos échanges avec Christian, au moment de notre exposition surréaliste à Romainville en 2025. La bibliothèque surréaliste exposée à la galerie faisait écho à la sienne, construction aussi bien physique que mentale.

Sa pensée et son héritage continueront de nous habiter.
