« The exhibition Abstraction, Abstractions! sets out to explore the vitality of one of the founding practices of modern and contemporary art by asking a series of simple questions: What remains of abstraction today? What forms does it take? How is it being reinvented, or how does it unfold within contemporary artistic creation? Through a selection of works produced from the late twentieth century to the present day, art historian and museum curator Thierry Davila, curator of the exhibition, offers a critical and sensitive journey through a territory that is as vast as it is elusive. Rather than attempting to confine abstraction within a single definition, the exhibition embraces its plurality—hence its title in the plural, resonating like a multiplied echo. Abstraction is presented here as a fluid and evolving field, shaped by diverse intentions, heterogeneous forms, and distant geographies. It may be rigorous or intuitive, painterly or sculptural, radical or decorative, critical or poetic. » Text by Les Tanneries - Centre d’art contemporain d’intérêt national
