ICOM AVICOM - Audiovisual, New Technologies and Social Media

AVICOM, established 1991, is the ICOM Committee for Audiovisual, New Technologies and Social Media Private professionals are also involved as consultants.

AVICOM, established in June 1991, is the ICOM International Committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies of Image and Sound. It is one of ICOM’s (International Council of Museums) international committees. The Committee members are curators, scientists and technicians in charge of collections, and those responsible for the services that use audiovisual and new technologies in museums and heritag

e and cultural institutions. The Committee depends on patrons and on grants, and is seeking its own sources of funding in order to be able to carry out its mission.

Barcelona history museum has a new headquarter in the former Fabra i Coats industrial complex, the most important textile company in Spain in the early 20th century.

The exhibition has placed work at the centre of the historical and social story of contemporary Barcelona and their shift from industrial city to the services city is today: the industrial world, construction, transport, maritime work, retail, health, education, public administration, domestic and care work, with objects and testimonials by people involved in them i different audiovisuals.
