THEATRE IN A VASE etching- FRUSTRATION, MISTAKES & DISCOVERY !
I've not been able to get into the studio much lately, which has been quite frustrating. I promised myself that when I did, I'd use some old paper stock before buying more, and I found a few beautiful sheets of JIM PATERSON's paper from TWO RIVERS PAPER MILL, which I bought over 30 years ago when I visited the mill in Somerset.
I wasn't paying attention when I inked up the plate the first time, as I wanted to use an old tin of lemon yellow ink I came across whilst spring cleaning the studio. So printing this on a pinkish/coral coloured paper didn't really work. So I then over printed it with a green, hoping to get a retro look. That wasn't great either, so I overprinted a third time with white.
My final white overprinting, whilst not entirely successful, gave an amazing 3D effect, almost as if it had been embroidered. So whilst I don't have a perfect print, I did at least have some studio time and realised that overprinting three times out of desperation, can give a gorgeous effect. So all in all, a successful printing moment !

Je n'ai pas beaucoup pu aller à l'atelier ces derniers temps, ce qui a été assez frustrant. Je m'étais promis que lorsque j'y retournerais, j'utiliserais du vieux papier avant d'en racheter, et j'ai trouvé quelques belles feuilles de papier de JIM PATERSON provenant de TWO RIVERS PAPER MILL, que j'avais achetées il y a plus de 30 ans lors de ma visite à la papeterie dans le Somerset !
Il m'a fallu trois surimpressions pour obtenir un bon résultat, ce qui m'a montré tout le pouvoir de la persévérance !
