This artwork was collaborated with international artist "Ashely Smallwood" creator of "Snack Paintings." Our intent was to express our identities and techniques together, creating a composition that identifies with the local nature and sea life of the great "Yum Balam" national sanctuary, where Holbox is located at.
In our subject matter we included the whale shark, as the main character of Holbox Island, which is world wide visited during May-Sep of each year around this zone. The jelly fish is a unique kind only found in Holbox. The flamingo also familiar with the area. You can see them every summer around the island. The fish depicted are local species as well and daily catches of the fishermen, who are founders of the Island. The coral represents the beginning of the Caribbean wich starts exactly here. All this while maintaining the original colors of the beautiful iconic letters of Holbox.
