The Pacific Community (SPC) is organizing a virtual and physical training on coconut for farmers & agricultural officers at the following dates: 24/25 April (Free, virtual); 2-4 May (PNG, field); 10-12 May (Fiji, field).
The workshop, in English language, will: 1) Equip farmers and extensionists with the necessary information and tools to effectively conserve in situ and develop coconut varieties for improved livelihoods; and 2) Strengthen germplasm data management on coconut varieties.

Fiji: an amazing disappearing dwarf coconut tree with breast-shaped fruits! In 2012 and 2017, we carried out surveys to locate the most beautiful and original varieties of coconut trees from Fiji. Here is a particular coconut tree that we have only encountered once. This variety is at high risk of disappearing. This is why we advise you to go see the owner and ask him for seeds to replant. I think hundreds of gardeners would like to have this fun kind of coconut trees in their gardens. Additionally, the fruits could be used for crafting.
