[ RÉTROSPECTIVE 6 JUIN ] 🕊
🇳🇱 La matinée a débuté par la cérémonie néerlandaise, dédiée à la mémoire de la Brigade royale néerlandaise Princesse Irène, dont 1 205 hommes débarquent à Arromanches-les-Bains le 7 août 1944. En présence de l’ambassadeur des Pays-Bas en France, Jan Versteeg, du sous-préfet de Vire, Martin Lafon, de Cédric Nouvelot, Vice-président du Département du Calvados, de Marcel Bastide, maire d’Arromanches, cet hommage a rappelé l’engagement des forces néerlandaises dans la Libération. La présence d’une classe Défense du lycée Jeanne d’Arc de Bastia a donné une dimension toute particulière à ce moment de transmission : plusieurs élèves ont eu l’honneur de porter les gerbes remises aux autorités.
La présence du vétéran américain David Marshall a également rappelé, avec émotion, le lien vivant qui nous unit encore aux témoins de la Libération.
🇫🇷 La cérémonie de l’Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace a ensuite mis à l’honneur le lien qui unit aujourd’hui Arromanches à l’escadron logistique de la base aérienne d’Évreux. À cette occasion, les représentants de l’Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace ont procédé à la remise d’un fanion à l’escadron, baptisé du nom « Arromanches-les-Bains » par le chef d’état-major de l’Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace. Trois militaires ont également été récompensés à titre individuel, saluant leur engagement et leur mérite.
La journée s’est poursuivie dans une ambiance festive et conviviale avec le concert du Kannibal Swing Quartet, avant de s’achever par un spectacle pyrotechnique tiré depuis le toit-terrasse du musée, offrant un moment fort partagé avec le public.
À travers ces cérémonies et ces temps de rassemblement, Arromanches continue de faire vivre le souvenir, de transmettre l’histoire et d’honorer celles et ceux qui servent, hier comme aujourd’hui. 🙌

🇳🇱 The morning began with the Dutch ceremony, dedicated to the memory of the Royal Dutch Princess Irene Brigade, 1,205 of whose men landed at Arromanches-les-Bains on 7 August 1944. In the presence of the Dutch Ambassador to France, Jan Versteeg, the Sub-Prefect of Vire, Martin Lafon, Cédric Nouvelot, Vice-President of the Calvados Department, and Marcel Bastide, Mayor of Arromanches, this tribute highlighted the commitment of the Dutch forces to the Liberation. The presence of a Defence class from Bastia gave a very special dimension to this moment of remembrance: several pupils had the honour of carrying the wreaths presented to the authorities.
The presence of American veteran David Marshall also served as a moving reminder of the living bond that still unites us with the witnesses of the Liberation.
🇫🇷 The Air and Space Force ceremony then highlighted the bond that today links Arromanches to the logistics squadron at Évreux Air Base. On this occasion, representatives of the Air and Space Force presented a pennant to the squadron, named ‘Arromanches-les-Bains’ by the Chief of Staff of the Air and Space Force. Three service personnel were also honoured individually, in recognition of their commitment and merit.
The day continued in a festive and convivial atmosphere with a concert by the Kannibal Swing Quartet, before concluding with a fireworks display launched from the museum’s roof terrace, providing a highlight shared with the audience.
Through these ceremonies and gatherings, Arromanches continues to keep memories alive, pass on history and honour those who serve, both past and present. 🙌
