Well done Netherlands💖
A centuries-old Dutch New Year’s tradition has just come to an end. 🎆
From August 1, consumer fireworks are officially banned across the Netherlands.
Only approved community organisations with special exemptions will still be allowed to organise displays, while Amsterdam has already confirmed it won’t grant those exemptions.
The goal is simple:
• fewer injuries
• quieter neighbourhoods
• less stress for emergency services, pets and wildlife
For generations, New Year’s Eve in the Netherlands meant streets filled with fireworks.
This year, that chapter officially closes.
🎇 Some will call it the end of a tradition.
Others will call it the start of a safer one.
Save this if you’re spending New Year’s in the Netherlands.
