Join us at Gallery GAo ShAn on the Night of the Arts, Thursday 20 August in Helsinki for the opening of Fragments of the Future, Daniel Kruger’s first solo exhibition in Finland.

We are especially pleased to welcome Daniel Kruger in person, travelling from Munich to Helsinki for the opening.

Opening Reception
20 August 2026 · 18:00–20:00

Bringing together jewellery and ceramic works spanning more than four decades, Fragments of the Future explores how memory, history and material continue to shape the present and our imagination of the future.

Born in South Africa and raised in Namibia, Kruger studied goldsmithing, graphic design, painting and sculpture before continuing his studies under Hermann Jünger at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich. His practice moves freely between jewellery, ceramics and the decorative arts, bringing precious and everyday materials into unexpected relationships.

Works from different periods come together as a living constellation, where forms, colours, textures and memories return, transformed.

”Naked lemon seeds occupy a small yellow space and glow gently as a delicate illuminant for greyer days. Daniel Kruger gives curious things an unexpected meaning.“ This evocative description from Daniel Kruger’s newly published monograph, Jewellery – The Unexpected Meaning of Curious Things, captures the essence of his artistic practice.

Ordinary objects, natural forms and fragments of memory are transformed into poetic compositions through colour, material and unexpected form. The book brings together Kruger‘s jewellery created over the past decade while reflecting on more than five decades of artistic practice. More than a catalogue, it offers an intimate insight into the ideas, materials and visual language that have shaped one of the most influential voices in contemporary jewellery. As we prepare for Fragments of the Future, we look forward to sharing not only the works themselves, but also the stories, memories and materials behind them.

📘The book is available through the book section of our gallery website or can be ordered directly via DM.

Every piece by Daniel Kruger invites a closer look.

Layers of colour, historical references, found materials, and unexpected combinations come together to create jewellery that feels both ancient and contemporary. Rather than reproducing the past, Kruger transforms fragments of different cultures into new visual narratives.

This necklace will be presented in Fragments of the Future, Daniel Kruger’s first solo exhibition in Finland.

The exhibition works have arrived.

There is something special about opening a package from an artist. Every layer reveals another fragment — jewellery, ceramics, and three published books by Daniel Kruger.

This is only the beginning of preparing Fragments of the Future, the first solo exhibition in Finland by Daniel Kruger. Over the coming weeks, we’ll share more stories behind the works as the exhibition gradually takes shape.

Stay with us on this journey.

We have begun our art summer vacation.

Kolumba Museum: A sacred epic, a breathing ruin.

This museum located in Cologne center, On top of the ruins of this medieval church, which was destroyed during World War II, Peter Zumthor used grey handmade bricks, silence, and the play of light and shadow to stitch together a space that breathes.

Wishing you a great Midsummer!

It was a pleasure to welcome the Italian artist Paolo Marcolongo during his visit to Finland. 👋🖤

A key figure rooted in Padua’s renowned metalworking heritage, Marcolongo’s practice moves naturally between jewellery, sculpture and glass art. We love how he fuses the historic Murano glass tradition with a bold, contemporary jewellery language, perfectly balancing Italian craftsmanship with modern experimentation.
