SIC participates this year’s edition of with the presentation of Helsinki-based artists Olli Keränen, Elina Nissinen and Timo Vaittinen.

Olli Keränen (1979) works with installation, sculptural elements and video. His works often discuss shared spaces that are in a constant need of negotiation.

Elina Nissinen (1991) works primarily with varying sculptural materials. Their practice is often context-driven and often collaborative. Addressing the connection between the material and the invisible worlds, their work explores the overlap of the q***r with the matter(s) and manifestations of magic.

Timo Vaittinen (1976) works with a wide range of materials and methods, and his practice is characterised by a sense of mysticism connected to psychedelic and underground cultures. His works are grounded in a reality-based documentary approach that merges with fictional and imaginative narratives.

Meet us at the booth 2.01!

TASON-KULKIJA

by
on view

16.5. — 21.6.2026

There are transitions that do not follow familiar directions or time, but occur between layers, surfaces, and intuitions.

Tason-kulkija is composed of paintings and sculptural elements that move within these in-between spaces. The works observe the connections through which we move between different planes, detaching and returning, often without noticing.

A fictional perspective runs through the working process. An idea of how the world might appear and feel through the experience of a character from a fantasy world.

Reality is layered and in flux – shaped by a multiplicity of perspectives.

The opening of Timo Vaittinen’s ✧ Tason-kulkija ✧ exhibition extends into the musical event Ilta korville ja mielelle 2.

Live performances by Kuupuu and Olli Aarni.
DJ’s Fresh Ana and Purple Hayes.
From 17:00 to 21:00.

✧ Kuupuu ✧

Jonna Karanka is a multidisciplinary artist known for her experimental soundscapes and tactile visual art. Under the name Kuupuu, she has been creating dreamlike music since 2003, where strange frequencies, loops, underwater incantations and electroacoustic textures intertwine. Kuupuu’s music has been released in Belgium (KRAAK), the United States (Time-Lag Records), Japan (EM Records, Musik Atlach) and Germany (Dekorder). She also performs with Draamakuu, Olimpia Splendid and Hertta Lussu Ässä, among others. For this event, Karanka has prepared a performative set of elf music.

✧ Olli ✧ Aarni ✧

At the event, Olli Aarni will perform an ode to pollen. Slow-moving particles are drawn into sound, reflecting light that spreads everywhere across all wavelengths.
Olli Aarni is a composer and sound artist whose music has been released on dozens of albums across four continents. His work ranges from ambient music and sound poetry to environmental sounds and noise. He also works with text, space, and image.
„The kind of music that feels like it was conjured in some sort of incantation rather than created by human hands.” - user ghosttropics at Bandcamp site.
