Despite the sauna-like temperatures, MISS READ was a joy.

It was great to meet new and old friends, publishers, fellow city and book enthusiasts, and to have real conversations and receive thoughtful feedback face to face, without a screen in between.

These conversations give me the fuel to keep making art/books.

3rd edition: OUT NOW

“Books as Art Practice” grew out of a simple realization: making books can feel a lot like painting graffiti on trains.

You make the work, send it out into the world, and lose control of where it goes. A train leaves the station. A book ends up in a stranger’s bag, on a shelf in another city, in the hands of someone you’ll never meet.

Since founding Other Editions in 2017, has used publishing not to document exhibitions, but to replace them. Books become a way of circulating ideas, creating unexpected connections, and reaching beyond the usual spaces of contemporary art.

This pocket-sized zine gathers eleven short reflections on books as an artistic practice, drawn from years of making, publishing, and observing. The third edition includes revised texts, updated images, and new notes, including the story that inspired the project.

On March 21st, a fire destroyed the warehouse of Idea Books in Amsterdam, my distributor for years. Millions of books lost. No one was hurt, thankfully.

All the copies of Other Editions stored there are gone too. Most of those titles were limited editions. Some won’t come back.

❤️ My love goes to the whole team. And to the books from all the publishers involved that won’t make it to new hands.
