Another wonderful piece that leaves us...

Seventeenth century Bargueño with 9 frontal drawers and a central door that houses 4 smaller drawers. The drawers are framed with ebony moldings inlaid with tortoiseshell and boxwood fronts. The upper gallery is finished with bronze vases. The cabinet retains original locks from the 1600’s with its original key.

From 1650 onwards, these desks made of tortoiseshell, ebony and bronze began to be very successful. In principle, they correspond to a typology of large size manufactured in Flanders, introduced in Spain by the Forchoudt family who installed their manufacture in Cadiz. There are a large number of examples made both in Spain and Naples, the Italian ones being distinguished by the higher quality of their bronzes.

What a fantastic original patina.
Solid cherry Provençal cabinet, with its original hardware and key.
These cabinets are usually built completely without glues or screws, all the pieces are joined with wooden nails and completely removable.
