Matter, Memory and Myth begins with the memory of images as a territory of transformation. In Paola Vignola’s work, figures and symbols drawn from historical imagery reappear stripped of their original representation and reconstructed through colour, matter, texture and relief. The Menina thus becomes a contemporary archetype: a figure that preserves the memory of its origins while acquiring a new identity.

Through this series, Vignola establishes a dialogue between memory, matter and transformation, where the recognisable becomes enigmatic once again.
