Welcome, September!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer! We’re getting back to our artistic routine with a very busy September ahead, so Save the Date — I hope we’ll see each other soon!

* Thursday, September 3rd — Opening of Leonardo Moleiro’s exhibition in Seoul, Korea, at An Inc. Gallery. If you know anyone in Seoul, make sure to tell them to come along to the opening and enjoy Leo’s beautiful works.

* Thursday, September 10th at 7:30 pm, Friday, September 11th at 7:30 pm, and Saturday, September 12th from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm — Opening events for César Barrio’s exhibition at the gallery in Madrid. It’s a fantastic exhibition that you really shouldn’t miss!

* September 24–27 — ESTAMPA Art Fair. I’ll be waiting for you at stand 5A01, where we’ll present a solo show by Iván Rickenmann and his wonderful palm trees, which will transport you straight to the jungle.

So, I hope to see you many times this month — in Seoul, at the gallery, or at ESTAMPA!

- ⁠jueves 10 (19:30), viernes 11 (19:30) y sábado 12 sep aperitivo de 11:30 a 14:30 inauguraciones de la exposición de César Barrio en la galería en Madrid. Es una exposición fantástica que no te puedes perder.

- ⁠24/27 sep. Feria ESTAMPA. Te espero en el stand 5A01 con un solo show de Iván Rickenmann y sus maravillosas palmeras que te trasladarán a la sela.

Tonight we close the doors of Mediterráne-A in Spetses.

We opened on July 18th, and somehow, on August 23rd, I am saying goodbye to an adventure that has been so much more than a pop-up gallery.

I had never spent so much time on such a small island — and now, after these weeks, Spetses feels anything but small. It has given me incredible encounters, friendships, beautiful moments and memories that I will carry with me for a very long time.

A huge THANK YOU to the five wonderful artists who trusted me and joined me in this crazy idea, and to my amazing friends who came to share part of the adventure with me.

And a very special thank you to my boys — Anders, Nico and Matin, and all their friends — for sharing these days with me, helping at the gallery, and becoming part of this adventure. ❤️

Thank you, Lara, for sharing this madness with me, for trusting me and for making it possible.

And, of course, thank you to all the wonderful people I have met in Spetses — those who walked through the gallery, stopped to say hello, bought a piece, came back, recommended us to friends, shared a drink, a conversation or simply a smile.

I truly hope our paths cross again — in Madrid, in Spetses, or somewhere else in the world.

As for Mediterráne-B… I do not know yet 😉
But I have a feeling this might not be the end.

Time flies! ✨

This is our last week at Baraka Art Space, and we couldn’t be happier with this incredible experience in Spetses 🇬🇷💙

So many people have fallen in love with the selection of artists and artworks we brought to the island — and we’re thrilled that many of these works will now stay here in Spetses! 🎨✨

We’ve met wonderful people, made new friends, shared beautiful moments and created memories that we hope will last forever. 😍

Greece, Spetses and especially the Old Harbour now have a very special place in our hearts, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

You still have a few days to visit Mediterráne-A, every evening from 20:00 to 24:00, until Sunday, August 23rd.

Esta es nuestra última semana en Baraka Art Space y no podemos estar más felices con esta increíble experiencia en Spetses 🇬🇷💙

Muchas personas se han enamorado de la selección de artistas y de las obras que trajimos a la isla — y nos hace especialmente felices saber que muchas de ellas se quedarán ahora en Spetses. 🎨✨

Hemos conocido a personas maravillosas, hecho nuevos amigos, compartido momentos preciosos y creado recuerdos que esperamos conservar para siempre. 😍

Three volumes, three variations of light, colour and space.

In 0,10, Gerard Fernández Rico transforms industrial materials into sculptural forms where geometry becomes a language. Precise measurements, planes and angles interact with light, creating subtle changes in colour and depth depending on the viewer’s position.

The restrained palette and architectural shapes give the works a strong presence while maintaining an almost silent quality — a characteristic of Fernández Rico’s practice, where material, space and measurement become the protagonists.

Each piece can be acquired individually, allowing the work to exist as a singular sculptural presence or as part of a larger dialogue between forms.

Tres volúmenes, tres variaciones de luz, color y espacio.

En 0,10, Gerard Fernández Rico transforma materiales industriales en formas escultóricas donde la geometría se convierte en lenguaje. Medidas precisas, planos y ángulos interactúan con la luz, generando sutiles cambios de color y profundidad según la posición del espectador.

La paleta contenida y las formas arquitectónicas confieren a las piezas una fuerte presencia, pero también una cualidad casi silenciosa, característica de la obra de Fernández Rico, donde el material, el espacio y la medida se convierten en protagonistas.

Cada pieza se vende individualmente, pudiendo funcionar como una presencia escultórica autónoma o formar parte de un diálogo mayor entre las distintas formas.

Sometimes I wonder which palmtree from Iván Rickenmann’s Washingtoniana series is my favourite. It’s a bit like choosing between your children… almost impossible.

But I have to admit that Washingtoniana II, created especially for our exhibition in Spetses, as all of them has a very special place in my heart.

There is something about its presence, its quiet elegance, and the way Iván transforms an everyday tree into something almost monumental that makes me wonder.

His palms are more than botanical portraits—they become symbols of memory, travel, light, and the Mediterranean spirit that surrounds us here.

Perhaps that’s why this one keeps calling me back.

A menudo me pregunto cuál de las palmeras de la serie Washingtoniana de Iván Rickenmann es mi favorita. Es un poco como elegir entre tus hijos… prácticamente imposible.

Pero tengo que confesar que Washingtoniana II, realizada especialmente para nuestra exposición en Spetses, como todas sus hermanas, ocupa un lugar muy especial en mi corazón.

Hay algo en su presencia, en su elegancia serena y en la forma en que Iván convierte un árbol cotidiano en algo casi monumental.

Sus palmeras son mucho más que retratos botánicos: hablan de memoria, de viajes, de luz y de ese espíritu mediterráneo que nos rodea estos días.

Quizá por eso siempre vuelvo a esta.

Some windows don’t look outside. They invite us to look within.

Created especially for our exhibition Mediterráne-A at Baraka Art Space in Spetses, Marina Gadea’s Blue Soleil series transforms wood into intimate seascapes.

Each work is shaped like a ship’s porthole, inviting us to pause and immerse ourselves in the infinite shades of the Mediterranean.

Marina’s work has always been deeply connected to the sea. Inspired by submerged landscapes and the fascinating world of marine fungi and underwater life, she layers pigments, textures and resin to create luminous surfaces that seem to breathe with the movement of water.

These are not simply paintings of the sea—they are fragments of the sea itself. Silent, profound and endlessly changing, just as the Mediterranean reveals a different face every day.

Sometimes the most beautiful journey begins by looking through a small window.

Hay ventanas que no sirven para mirar hacia fuera, sino para mirar hacia dentro.

Realizada especialmente para nuestra exposición Mediterráne-A en Baraka Art Space, Spetses, la serie Blue Soleil de Marina Gadea convierte la madera en pequeñas ventanas abiertas al mar. Cada obra adopta la forma de un ojo de buey, invitándonos a detenernos y asomarnos a un universo de azules infinitos.

Toda la obra de Marina nace de una profunda conexión con el mar. Inspirada por los paisajes sumergidos y por la belleza casi desconocida de los hongos y organismos marinos, construye superficies donde el color, la materia y la resina evocan el movimiento, la profundidad y la luz del agua.

Más que representar el mar, Blue Soleil nos permite contemplarlo desde dentro. Cada pieza es un instante suspendido, un recuerdo del Mediterráneo convertido en objeto, una invitación a navegar sin movernos del lugar.

Porque, a veces, basta un pequeño ojo de buey para descubrir un océano entero.

Can an artwork change colour?

In Gerard Fernández Rico’s work, the answer is yes.

The pieces 0.05 and 0.14 are titled according to their volume, transforming a physical measurement into the artwork’s identity. Precision, geometry and material come together in a practice where light becomes another artistic medium.

But the real magic happens when the viewer moves.

As the angle and light change, the surface reveals new shades of violet, green and blue. The colour is never fixed. Every perspective uncovers a different version of the work, allowing it to remain in constant transformation.

Puede una obra cambiar de color?

En la obra de Gerard Fernández Rico, la respuesta es sí.

Las piezas 0,05 y 0,14 reciben su título según su volumen, convirtiendo una medida física en la identidad de la obra. Precisión, geometría y materia se combinan en una investigación donde la luz se convierte en un material más.

Pero la verdadera magia sucede cuando el espectador se mueve.

Dependiendo del ángulo y de la luz, la superficie revela nuevos matices: violetas, verdes, azules… El color nunca permanece igual. Cada mirada descubre una obra distinta, haciendo que estas piezas estén en constante transformación.

No solo ocupan un espacio.
Dialogan con él.

Inspired by the unforgettable sunsets of the Greek island of Spetses, where we are, Spetses Sunsets transforms the ever-changing colours of the Aegean Sea into a striking geometric composition.

Built from photographic fragments and printed with UV inks on aluminum Dibond, the work explores the relationship between light, colour, and perception.

Through layers of transparency and shifting reflections, the piece evolves with the light throughout the day, inviting each viewer to experience it differently.

A moment of stillness where geometry becomes a vessel for light, time, and place.

Inspirada en los inolvidables atardeceres de la isla griega de Spetses, Spetses Sunsets transforma los cambiantes tonos del mar Egeo en una poderosa composición geométrica.

Construida a partir de fragmentos fotográficos e impresa con tintas UV sobre aluminio Dibond, la obra explora la relación entre la luz, el color y la percepción.

A través de capas de transparencia y reflejos que cambian con la luz del día, la pieza se transforma continuamente, ofreciendo una experiencia visual distinta en cada momento.

Un instante de contemplación donde la geometría se convierte en un vehículo para la luz, el tiempo y el lugar.
