DEVA Loves… ALMONEDA

ALMONEDA: The Antiques and Art Collectors Fair that brings together antique and art collectors with galleries and dealers from all over Spain and abroad, is currently being held at IFEMA - Feria de Madrid.

The annual show returned to Madrid for its’ 23rd edition on Saturday 6th April and is due to run until Sunday 14th April 2013.

It displays some 25,000 authentic and unique objects from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s that 115 galleries and antique dealers have put up for direct sale to the public, starting from as little as 15€. Designer furniture, silver and glass items, clocks, carpets, tribal art, clothing, jewelry and head wear all have a place in Hall 3 at Feria de Madrid, making it a paradise for collectors and lovers of vintage.

At Almoneda, visitors will find that the “old and exclusive” are not synonymous with expensive. Instead, it offers visitors the opportunity to discover and purchase unique pieces that they identify with or genuine objects to add to their new or growing collections.

Local entrepreneurs will be making their way to Matadero Madrid this Thursday for the first ever “Zinc Shower”; A meeting-show for entrepreneurs, investors and professionals of the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI).

The event aims to provide budding entrepreneurs with opportunities, advice and information on financing, promotion, cooperation, training, creation, networking and participation. It will also provide the perfect opportunity for investors to be introduced directly to the 100 projects that will be presented at the show.

DEVA Loves… Humans of New York (HONY)

Brandon Stanton, a 28 year old Atlanta native started the blog “Humans of New York” in 2010 after losing his job as a bond trader in Chicago, and moving to New York with little idea of what he was going to do - only sure of the fact that he liked taking photos.

Every day, he walks the streets of New York taking photographs of strangers and the things that people walk by, but don’t notice. His photographs are interesting and unique because of the relationship he has with their subjects. He makes a connection with each of the fantastic characters by asking them personal questions, that no one before may have taken the time to ask. He pairs their responses with their photo, creating a portrait with images AND words.

Today, with nearly one million followers, HONY now provides a worldwide audience with glimpses into the lives of strangers in New York City.

In his own words, “I photograph everything that makes me happy…and it turns out it makes other people happy too”.
