We are thrilled to introduce the work of Laura Ramirez to the gallery.

Based in Madrid, the Spanish-Australian ceramic artist creates hand-built sculptural works that balance rawness with refinement. Deeply tactile and striking in presence, her sculptures evoke organic formations, living structures, and the quiet irregularities found in nature.

Working intuitively with clay through slow hand-building techniques, Laura allows texture, gesture, and material expression to remain visible within each piece. The result is a body of work that feels both instinctive and highly resolved — delicate yet powerful, primitive yet deeply contemporary.

A beautiful new collection has just arrived in the gallery, and we are very excited to share these stunning works with you.

Our 3-day beginner ceramics workshop with Jeff this May.

Our beginner workshops are intentionally kept small and personal, allowing plenty of individual guidance, hands-on learning, and a relaxed, welcoming experience within our gallery space here in Deia. We’re so happy to offer these workshops regularly with Jeff, our full-time teacher at the studio.

Thank you to our wonderful students.

And of course, surprise visits from Violeta are always an added bonus.

Our next 3-day beginner workshop with Jeff will take place on the 15th, 16th, and 17th of July.

Thank you to Isabella Gorny and everyone who joined our 5-day handbuilt ceramics workshop in Deia.

It was such a beautiful week sharing our space together — slow mornings with breathwork, walks in nature, and days spent creating with clay.

Thank you all for your presence, creativity, and energy. We loved every moment of it.

We are delighted to represent the work of Álvaro Villamañán at De Haan Gallery Studio.

Largely self-taught, Álvaro has developed a deeply personal ceramic language through intuition, experimentation, and a close relationship with the firing process. His practice spans Kohiki and Buncheong-inspired vessels, warm-toned Shino pieces, and expressive Anagama-fired stoneware shaped by ash, flame, and time.

Anagama — meaning “cave kiln” — is an ancient single-chamber, wood-fired kiln tradition that originated in China before spreading to Japan and Korea. Built in a sloping tunnel form and fueled entirely by firewood, the process creates surfaces marked by natural ash deposits and the unpredictable beauty of the flame.

We currently have a wonderful collection of Álvaro’s work available both in the gallery and online. These images offer just a small glimpse into the collection — a selection of some of our favourite pieces, each carrying its own unique character and surface shaped by fire and time.

Thank you to the wonderful students who joined my intensive 4-day Form & Vessel workshop.

Over four days — six hours a day — we achieved so much together. It was such an honour to guide you as you refined your forms, developed your style, and pushed your practice further.

What a beautiful, inspiring week it has been. The studio feels very quiet without you all.

Thank you for your energy, trust, and dedication — and I hope to see you back in the studio again soon.

What a beautiful few days we have had in the studio.

Thank you to Lena Harms for spending three special days with us. We love having your work in the gallery and having you here teaching this special workshop.

Thank you also to all of the students who joined us and brought so much enthusiasm into the studio. We hope to see you soon.

We are so excited to welcome you to our Easter Workshop, a warm and playful space where little hands and grown-ups alike can explore creativity side by side. During this special time, you’ll enjoy quality time together while discovering the magic of working with clay and colour.

Our Easter workshop is all about getting hands messy and creativity flowing.

Paint and decorate our handmade egg cups. Kids will also build their own breakfast set using pinch pots and hand-building… and to make it extra special, everyone will get a turn or two on the wheel with Jeff!
 Share meaningful moments, laughter, and creativity as a family.
