‘The Worlds Longest Delayed Gap Year’

‘The Worlds Longest Delayed Gap Year’ when I told my son about my travel plans for 2020 this was his response. My plans were to spend the entire year travelling, first to England to see my twins, old friends and to spend Christmas with my brother before travelling to Buenos Aires and from there to Paris for an art symposium. I had been invited to attend many International Arts Exhibitions this year, so my plans included Florence, Lisbon, Milan, Tunis, Venice, Boston, Monte Carlo…. The list goes on. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 most of these plans have either been cancelled or re-arranged, with Florence the only one I have attended, and I was lucky to get home. Two flights cancelled and then thanks to my daughters travel skills four flights and a two day journey to get me back to Spain via a zig-zagged route.

So, what does an artist do in lockdown? Paint, paint, paint and write.

These are my paintings of my travels so far this year and there is a small illustrated publication on its way of the journal I kept during my travels.

I hope you enjoy this new page.
