We are delighted to announce that Mercedes Azpilicueta will participate in the 18th Lyon Biennale of Contemporary Art, To pass from one dream to another, curated by Catherine Nichols.

Running from 19 September to 13 December 2026, the Biennale will bring together 118 artists across venues throughout Lyon.

b. 1981 in La Plata, Argentina, lives and works in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mercedes Azpilicueta works across installation, video, performance, text, and sound to revisit historical and contemporary narratives through a decolonial and feminist lens, exploring dissident voices, bodies, and narratives. Drawing in particular on tapestry and costume, she develops highly theatrical works that unfold within the exhibition space, informed by Latin American speculative literature and contemporary popular culture.

We are pleased to announce Mercedes Azpilicueta’s participation in Haunted by Waters, the fifth edition of Into Nature’s outdoor exhibition.⁠
⁠
Her new work, The Laughing Lichen, The Booming Bittern and Other Swampy Creatures, unfolds across an installation of costumes, drawings, props, and a soundscape, activated through performances in the wetlands of De Onlanden.⁠
⁠
Inspired by the real and imagined creatures of the swamp, the work explores a non-human archaeology of the landscape—an invitation to listen, speculate, and attune to what remains hidden among water, mud, and reeds.⁠

A través de la gravedad, el vuelo de los pájaros y el rastro del movimiento, Prats establece un diálogo poético entre el arte románico y la creación contemporánea. Una oportunidad para descubrir cómo el tiempo, la naturaleza y las geometrías invisibles atraviesan las épocas y siguen resonando en el presente.
