ألوان زيتية على لوح خشبي

لا توجد رسومات تحضيرية ظاهرة بالأشعة تحت الحمراء، ما يدل أن الفنان بنى التكوين مباشرة أثناء التلوين.

الفنان وضع المشاهد من نقطة مرتفعة نسبيًا، بحيث يظهر النهر المتعرج في الخلفية بينما تملأ الأشجار الضخمة مقدمة المشهد، وهي تقنية كانت شائعة لإعطاء عمق بصري قوي.

تتكوّن اللوحة من باقة زهور رائعة تضم زهور التوليب والورد والسوسن والأقحوان النجمي وزهور الجيليفلور، موضوعة في مزهرية زجاجية مضلّعة.
قام الفنان أولًا بإعداد رسم تفصيلي على اللوح المُحضَّر قبل أن يبدأ عملية التلوين.

اللوحه محفوظه في المتحف الوطني الهولندي - أمستردام

فان دير أست كان من رواد رسم الزهور والأصداف والحشرات بدقة علمية شبه واقعية، وهو من الفنانين الذين ساهموا في تطوير فن الطبيعة الصامتة الهولندي.
اللوحة لا تعرض مجرد باقة جميلة؛ بل تحمل فكرة “فناء الحياة” أو الـ Vanitas، وهي فكرة شائعة في الفن الهولندي: الزهور الذابلة والحشرات والكائنات الصغيرة ترمز إلى أن الجمال والحياة مؤقتان.

“Now I want this place to become a refuge for my world—
the world I found after it was once lost.
Everything is gray, yet beautiful.
I want every touch to glow with all the words
I once wanted to say, but couldn’t.”

The painting continues to amaze; I am enjoying every detail of it, and I want to leave a piece of my soul within it.
The painting is created on wood, using relief painting techniques, with acrylic colors.
