📍Tunis Village, Fayoum Fayoum Art Center is a Non Profit Organization founded by Egyptian artist, Mohamed Abla in 2006, inspired by the International Summer Academy in Salzburg where Abla taught for several years. It does so by providing several large studio spaces, art library, living areas and a communal dining room which fosters the collaboration between its participants. The center is also home to the first Caricature Museum in the Middle East, which holds a vast collection of caricatures by artists such as Saroukhan, George El Bahgoury and Ahmed Toughan. The center is located by Lake Qarun in Fayoum, one hour drive away from Cairo. It is surrounded by beautiful desert nature and is close to the “Wadi el Rayan” Waterfalls and the “Wadi Hetan” (The Whale Valley).

This World Migratory Bird Day, let’s celebrate the migratory birds that make Fayoum part of their journey. 🦩

From flamingos gathering around Lake Qarun to herons wading through shallow waters, Fayoum’s wetlands, salt lakes, and agricultural fields provide vital habitats for a rich diversity of resident and migratory birds travelling between continents.

في اليوم العالمي للطيور المهاجرة، بنحتفل بالطيور اللي بتختار الفيوم محطة في رحلتها بين القارات. 🦩

من طيور الفلامنجو اللي بتتجمع حوالين بحيرة قارون، لطيور مالك الحزين اللي بتتحرك في الميه الضحلة، بتوفر الأراضي الرطبة والبحيرات الملحية والأراضي الزراعية في الفيوم بيئات طبيعية مهمة لأنواع كتير من الطيور المقيمة والمهاجرة.

المرة الجاية اللي هتزوروا فيها الفيوم، ارفعوا عينيكم للسما، واسمعوا أصوات الطيور حواليكم، وخدوا لحظة تتأملوا جمالها. كل طائر وراه حكاية، وكل مرة بنلاحظه فيها بنتعلم أكتر عن الطبيعة وأهمية الحفاظ عليها.

See the world through their eyes. 🐾

Fayoum is more than its lakes, deserts and archaeological sites. Its canals, fields, reed beds and wetlands are also home to wildlife, including the adaptable Jungle Cat.

A sighting of a Jungle Cat in a northern Fayoum field is a reminder that these landscapes are not only part of our surroundings, but also a habitat for wild species. As climate change affects water, vegetation and prey, protecting these landscapes means protecting the wildlife that depends on them.

This World Animal Day, let’s see Fayoum from their perspective too, and recognise the importance of protecting their natural habitats.

شوفوا العالم بعيونهم 🐾

الفيوم مش بس بحيرات وصحاري ومناطق أثرية، لكن كمان فيها ترع وأراضي زراعية ومناطق رطبة بتوفّر بيئة طبيعية مهمة للحياة البرية، ومن بينها القط البري.

ظهور القط البري في أحد الحقول شمال الفيوم بيفكّرنا إن الطبيعة حوالينا مش مجرد مناظر جميلة، لكنها كمان موطن لكائنات برية كتير. ومع تأثير التغير المناخي على المية والنباتات ومصادر الغذاء، الحفاظ على البيئات دي معناه إننا بنحمي الحيوانات اللي عايشة فيها.

بمناسبة اليوم العالمي للحيوان، خلّونا نشوف الفيوم من منظورهم كمان، ونقدّر أهمية الحفاظ على بيئتهم الطبيعية.
