๐Ÿ“Tunis Village, Fayoum Fayoum Art Center is a Non Profit Organization founded by Egyptian artist, Mohamed Abla in 2006, inspired by the International Summer Academy in Salzburg where Abla taught for several years. It does so by providing several large studi

o spaces, art library, living areas and a communal dining room which fosters the collaboration between its participants. The center is also home to the first Caricature Museum in the Middle East, which holds a vast collection of caricatures by artists such as Saroukhan, George El Bahgoury and Ahmed Toughan. The center is located by Lake Qarun in Fayoum, one hour drive away from Cairo. It is surrounded by beautiful desert nature and is close to the โ€œWadi el Rayanโ€ Waterfalls and the โ€œWadi Hetanโ€ (The Whale Valley).

Nestled on the edge of the desert at Naqlun Mountain, south of Fayoum, the Monastery of the Archangel Gabriel at Naqlun stands as one of the oldest and most spiritual Coptic monasteries in Egypt.

Surrounded by dramatic limestone hills overlooking the green fields of Fayoum, the monastery dates back to the early centuries of Christianity and has remained a living center of prayer, monastic life, and heritage for more than 1,500 years.
Also known as Deir Abu Khashaba, the monastery is deeply connected to local legends and miracles. Its main church, dedicated to the Archangel Gabriel, features beautiful old icons, ancient columns, and traces of historic wall paintings that reflect centuries of devotion and artistic tradition.

Archaeological excavations at Naqlun have revealed hermit caves, manuscripts, and cemeteries, offering a rare glimpse into the rich monastic history of the Fayoum desert.
