✨️Farouk Corner Museum Anniversary Celebration✨️
On the banks of the Nile, west of Helwan, where there is tranquility, sophistication and a healthy atmosphere, lies the Rukn Farouk Museum, a royal rest house established for King Farouk in 1942.
In 1939, King Farouk admired the location of the rest house and bought it for 2,000 pounds. King Farouk entrusted the Minister of Royal Works at the time to establish a royal rest house on an area of approximately three acres in the shape of a ship moored on the banks of the Nile. He designed five river berths along the banks of the Nile to receive the royal yacht and engraved the royal emblem, King Farouk's monogram, on the gates. The rest house was opened on September 5, 1942.
In 1976, the idea of converting the rest house into a museum came after it was included in the Museums Sector of the Supreme Council of Antiquities. The museum remained open and closed until it was closed in 2011, then reopened after the completion of its development and restoration project in August 2016.
The museum contains many different halls such as the reception hall, the fireplace hall, the dining hall, the sea balcony "the western terrace" the veranda, and the bedroom suite that includes the king's bedroom and an attached bathroom, the queen's bedroom and an attached bathroom.
The museum contains approximately 1596 artifacts dating back to the royal era in Egypt, such as distinctive pieces of furniture for the rest house and bedrooms, table sets bearing the royal emblem, many oil paintings, statues, clocks, and a group of pieces imitating various Pharaonic collections such as "Tutankhamun's collection and Yuya and Tuya's collection", which were made specifically for King Farouk and transferred from King Farouk's rest house in the pyramid.
