نحتفل فى شهر مايو كل عام باليوم العالمى للأسره والهدف الرئيسي من اليوم العالمي للأسرة (15 مايو) هو تعزيز الوعي بالقضايا المتعلقة بالأسر، وتسليط الضوء على دورها كركيزة أساسية في بناء المجتمعات، مع التركيز على التحديات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والديموغرافية التي تواجهها. يسعى اليوم لتعزيز التضامن بين الأجيال، ودعم السياسات التي تضمن رفاهية الأسر، وتوفر الحماية الاجتماعية، وتحقق التوازن بين العمل والحياة.
كما يوجد أهداف تفصيلية للـ يوم العالمي للأسرة:
الاعتراف بدور الأسرة: التأكيد على أهمية الأسرة كبنية أولية لتقديم الرعاية والتنشئة الاجتماعية والتربوية.
تسليط الضوء على القضايا الأسرية: مناقشة التحديات المعاصرة، مثل الفقر، البطالة، التغير المناخي وتأثيره على الأسر، والمساواة بين الجنسين.
تعزيز السياسات الموجهة للأسرة: دعم الدول لتنفيذ سياسات تساعد في استقرار الأسر، كإعانات الأطفال، إجازات الوالدين، ورعاية الأطفال بأسعار معقولة.
نشر الوعي والمعرفة: زيادة المعرفة بالعمليات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والديموغرافية التي تؤثر على الأسرة.
التنمية المستدامة: إبراز مساهمة الأسر في تحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة وخاصة في مجالات التعليم، الصحة، والعمل المناخي.
