We are extending the solo exhibition Speedy Soda by Heidi Lillevang 🔥

The new body of work by Lillevang has received much praise already, and with the summer just around the corner, we’d love for even more people to get a chance to experience it!

Therefore the exhibition period has been extended, so you can come to Skagen and see Lillevang’s beautiful wood-fired ceramic sculptures until the 27th of June ☀️

All the works in the exhibition Speedy Soda are unglazed, wood-fired ceramics.

Heidi Lillevang has conducted three 16-hour firings for this body of work and although the pieces have shared the same space, the circumstances within the kiln during the firings have left significantly different marks on the surfaces of each sculpture.

Some pieces are warm and even in colour, some show shiny streaks of flames and soda and some are almost metallic in their surface. Each completely unique thanks to the close collaboration between Lillevang and the kiln named Speedy Soda.

It is with huge excitement that Ena Strand presents Speedy Soda — a solo exhibition by Heidi Lillevang.

We hope to see you at the opening on Friday the 15th of May at 17.00-19.00 🥂

In this new series of wood-fired ceramics, Lillevang builds organic, almost symbolic forms from repeated elements, balancing structure and variation. With a conscious decision to explore a reduced material palette, she lets process take the lead.

The kiln plays an active role: ash, flame, and heat leave unpredictable marks, shaping surfaces that shift from dense and scorched to raw and delicate.

Each piece holds the trace of its making and it is therefore only apt to have named her first solo exhibition Speedy Soda; the name of the kiln which has been a close collaborator in the making of this new body of work.

In July 2023, Signe Emdal spent time as a resident artist at Klitgaarden in Skagen. During her stay, she spent numerous hours walking in the heathlands surrounding her which subsequently inspired this piece.

Developing her own techniques as a textile artist, Heather, Lions Gate is created using Emdal’s Touch medium. Fluffy, enticing and full of life 💜🤎🧡
