Gillelejegruppen

Gillelejegruppen This page visualizes the private museum Gillelejegruppen, which since 1995 has collected items from 1940-1945 to describe the period of occupation in DK.

Our interest lies foremost in the vehicles from the period - preferably Wehrmacht vehicles, but also US army and British/Canadian army. All our vehicles should be able to drive, so whenever we start a restauration, we always begin with the engine.

A GOOD STORY
This is the engine bottom plate. Scwartz did a right out good job with cutting the threads and painting.
The plate has an interesting story. A number of years ago before we got the panzer III - friends in the army found the plate in the ground in a former Wehrmacht garage area. It had been used intensively by the danish army - so everybody thought it was english or us armor plate. We said thank you and thought no more of it.
Years later the plate found its home again as we realized it was missing on the pzIII.
The after war mine clearing unit had its garage and workshop exately where the plate was found.
Really what was the chance of the two parts finding each other again.....?

Our Sdkfz 251/D was out to day. It had to be moved from the bunker to a dryer and more suitable place. Steering and brakes tested.

We tried out a muzzle cover receaved from Dmitry Bushmakow. It is in full-grain leather with a strap than looks wrong untill you find the loop underneath the gun (visable in the picture.) The end of the cover is of an almost seethrough material. This makes the gun fireable without removing the cover. (Thanx to Dmitry).

Special MG of german panzers:

Panzer III N were equipped with MG 34 Machine guns that were fitted with virtually no ventilation holes in the barrel jackets. These weapons did not utilize Butt Stocks or Bipods when installed inside the tank. However in the event of the tank becoming disabled a separate Butt Stock and clamp on Foresight assembly with bipod mount slot and bipod were stored inside the tank for converting the weapon to infantry use so the Tank Crew had some sort of personal weapons while making their way by foot back to the German line.

Last picture is an ammunition pouch for panzers.

2019 - visit to Saumur and our good friend (now passedd) Marcel Fritz.
There was a spectacular wreck of a panzer III from a french shooting ground, which we for a moment thought we could have, but sadly it was already promised to somebody else.
