Holding a BA in Art History and an MA in Visual Culture Studies, Marie Kirkegaard inaugurated the gallery in 2013, focusing on contemporary Scandinavian and International art by emerging artists who work in a wide range of media. Today the gallery is proud to represent a selected diverse group of emerging contemporary artists. Their artistic works are equally in their own right rooted in a dynamic

and experimental approach to the medias. Accordingly, the artists are defined not as much by a shared aesthetic but rather by a common wish to express content, tell a story and set a mark, all by providing ambitious experiences of contemporary art. We see the responsibility of the gallery as wide reaching; a personal collaboration with each artist, guidance and acting as their connection to the international art world, also managing both a written and a visual archive for each artist, and not at least acting as an open public space that presents the highest level of emerging contemporary art to the general public. Marie Kirkegaard Gallery has participated in international art fairs such as Drawing Now Paris (2013) and several Danish art fairs.
