SixtyEight Art Institute

SixtyEight Art Institute SixtyEight Art Institute is a non-profit art institute which focuses on giving young artistic and curatorial talents the opportunity to make exhibitions.

68m2 is a non-profit exhibition space established in 2010 on the site of an old paint factory in Copenhagen, which focuses on curatorial experiments through which artists from Denmark and abroad can meet and influence one another, both through the thematic exhibitions and the talks and events arranged around them. We are interested in shaping a space in which artistic exchange and intellectual debate can take place.

6 May, exactly 15 years since SixtyEight opened its first exhibition! Time flies. We celebrated by hiking up Mount Hiei, here for the art historians among us a prospect from the trail in the picturesque manner. Down there somewhere is Goethe-Institut Villa Kamogawa, where our current show reopens today.

SixtyEight's publishing arm RSS Press is pleased to invite you to the launch of the book NEW SKIN by artist Vivi Christensen. NEW SKIN alternates between Christensen’s visual works and poetic texts in an area of tension between the deeply personal and her professional artistic work. Both text and image circle around difficult experiences of vulnerability - including violence and sexual abuse in her childhood home - and investigates how these experiences lodge themselves in the body, memory and identity.

Time and place:

Thiemers Magasin
Kvindernes Bygning 8-10,
Niels Hemmingsens Gade,
Copenhagen

Friday 30 January, 17.00-19.00

The artist will be present, there will be wine, water and bubbles, and the book will be available for a special price.

💥 What a Night! 💥

Thank you to everyone who joined us on September 1st for an unforgettable evening with artist Chipo Chipaziwa and art historian Nina Cramer at Det Lilla Rum 💜

Chipo’s powerful performance Slipping Into Slipping Away held us together in a shared space of memory, legibility, and intimacy — followed by a rich and moving conversation on performance, archives, and diasporic artistic practices. We also celebrated the launch of her first artist book My Mother My Home (Archive Books, 2024) 📖🖤

We couldn’t have asked for a better crowd! We are so grateful to Chipo for bringing her work to Copenhagen as part of her European book tour, and to Nina for opening the conversation with such warmth and generosity.

And a big thank you to for welcoming us into your space and for such a lovely collaboration ✨✨

SixtyEight is pleased to welcome the artist Chipo Chipaziwa to Copenhagen, a Canadian citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, born in Malaysia, and shaped by time spent living in Switzerland and New York, as part of her European book tour.

In collaboration with Det Lilla Rum, we will host her performance Slipping Into Slipping Away, followed by a conversation with art historian Nina Cramer. Chipaziwa’s first artist book My Mother My Home (Archive Books, 2024) will also be available for purchase.

Programme
17:00 — Performance (30 min)
18:00 — Talk with Chipo Chipaziwa, Nina Cramer & audience
* Book sales afterwards

About the Performance
In Slipping Into Slipping Away, Chipaziwa continues her exploration of memory, archives, liminality, and psychoanalysis, probing the power dynamic between performer and audience.

About the Book
My Mother My Home (Archive Books, 2024) experiments with archiving performance beyond the physical body. Using writing, drawing, and printmaking, Chipaziwa weaves past and present relations into a practice of Black ancestrality and futurity — questioning how performance art can be remembered outside imperialist and capitalist modes of documentation.

The Speakers
Chipo Chipaziwa (b. 1997) — performance artist whose works have been presented at Art Metropole, Plug In ICA, and Western Front.

Nina Cramer (b. 1993) — PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen, co-founder of G/HOSTING, and co-editor of Black Monument (2025).

Supported by the Danish Arts Foundation.

✨ Intimacy & Publicness – Performative Arts Programme ✨
📅 20–22 June 2025
📍 Blågårds Plads, Nørrebro & surrounding venues

In June, we came together for three inspiring days of performances, conversations, and shared experiences in the heart of Nørrebro — exploring themes of intimacy, vulnerability, and collective presence in urban space.

From the electrifying movements of “Implication Studies II” to the raw but tender gestures of “Rupture”, each performance revealed its own unique rhythm and way of being together in public space. A huge thanks to all the artists, collaborators, and audiences who made this collective journey possible.

💥The programme featured:
🖤 Cantina: Intimations – Nikhil Vettukattil
🖤 The Ruins – Filip Vest & Kai Merke
🖤 Implication Studies II – Marina Dubia
🖤 It Doesn’t Look Like Anything to Me – Jules Fischer & Josefine Opsahl
🖤 The Caryatid – Lina Hashim
🖤 Rupture – Klara Lopez

We also hosted reflective talks with participating artists alongside researchers Amaru Ibarra Olguín, Iben Bach Elmstrøm, Irene Campolmi, Olivia Turner Saul, Joachim Aagaard Friis, and the audience — moderated by Rebekka Anker-Møller and Mikkel Bogh.
