Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir, Sphere, 2021
Watercolour on handmade paper, 33 x 27 cm with frame

These two delicate works on paper offer a look into Icelandic sculptor Steinunn Thórarinsdóttir’s exploration of human existence. Known globally for her life-sized cast iron and bronze figures, these watercolors capture that same powerful sense of anonymity and isolation on a smaller, more fragile scale. 🎨🍂

Both pieces features a solitary, genderless figure rendered in earthy, clay-like tones. The body is paired with a perfectly circular, dark grey sphere. In one composition, the figure stands facing us, partially eclipsed by the dark orb. In the other, we see the back of the figure, with the sphere resting like heavy thoughts or an internal planetary system just above the shoulders. These works are a meditation on how we navigate our own internal worlds and the space around us. 🪐✨

Thórarinsdóttir’s thin, textured brushstrokes give the figures a raw, organic quality, making them look as if they were formed directly from the earth. The interaction between the human form and the geometric sphere creates a quiet tension, leaving the narrative entirely open to interpretation. 🌑🚶‍♂️

Saxon Quinn, I LIKE THE ORIGINAL MORE, 2026
Mixed media on canvas, 30 x 30 cm, oak frame

On the canvas, Quinn layers thick, heavily textured oil paints to build a face that practically jumps out of the frame. The massive, wide-awake eyes and a sprawling, checkered grin are loaded with raw, immediate energy. Instead of worrying about neatness, Quinn embraces a chaotic, street-art style where messy brushstrokes and unrefined textures are exactly the point. It is an honest, high-impact celebration of the first, unfiltered creative impulse. 🥊💥

Thierry Feuz, RAINGARDEN MONSOON, 2023 🌸
Lacquer and acrylic on canvas, 130 x 160 cm

"Raingarden Monsoon" is a masterclass in texture and color theory. Feuz blends traditional lacquer techniques with acrylic on canvas to create a glossy, glass-like depth. The composition features a surreal, organic landscape where dandelion-like bursts and cellular flowers float against a vivid gradient background of deep violet, hot pink, and warm orange. It looks like a view through a microscope or a snapshot of a distant, alien planet. 🌌🌸

The work balances the precision of small, dotted details with the smooth, fluid blending of the background. By using lacquer, Feuz gives the surface a highly reflective quality that makes the colors pop under the light.

Saxon Quinn, FAMILY FUED, 2026
Mixed media on canvas, 180 x 150 cm, oak frame

“The good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly” Saxon Quinn left this short note on the back of the canvas, perfectly summarizing the messy reality of family life. This painting takes that unfiltered mix of emotions and throws it directly onto the surface with oil stick scratches, splattered textures, and raw, frantic energy. 🎨🌪️

The canvas is a battleground of contrasting symbols. You see bright crowns, rainbows, and grinning faces tangled up next to jagged teeth, staring eyes, and chaotic clusters of characters. Quinn doesn't try to make family look neat or perfect. Instead, he treats the canvas like a kitchen wall or a city sidewalk, letting all the conflicting parts of domestic life coexist in one big, honest composition. 👑🦷

This painting is part of Saxon's solo exhibition, PAREIDOLIA, currently on view in our gallery. Find all the works from the show online at egelundshop.com

Saxon Quinn, SUNFLOWERS AND PATERNAL QUARRELS, 2026 🌻
Mixed media on canvas, 180 x 150 cm, oak frame

On the back of the painting, Saxon Quinn reflects on the exhaustion of parenthood: "Details of retrieve, daily battle where silence is minimal and requests are neverending ... at what point do our children forget about the beauty and get distracted by the noise."

The work captures that exact tension between the joy of a child’s world and the "noise" of daily life. The canvas is filled with high-contrast symbols: dripping red letters, jagged suns, and wide-eyed faces. They are a direct response to the non-stop demands of a household. Quinn uses these raw, energetic marks to show how the beauty of a sunflower can easily get lost in the middle of a paternal quarrel or a "daily battle" for quiet. 🎨⚡

This piece is a major part of the solo exhibition "PAREIDOLIA," which explores how we find meaning and faces in the middle of chaos. Come see how Quinn turns the stress of everyday life into something powerful and honest at Galleri Christoffer Egelund. We are open at Bredgade 75 until June 1st. 📍🇩🇰

Saxon Quinn, BIRTHDAYS AND FRUITBATS, 2026 🦇🎂
Mixed media on canvas, 110 x 90 cm, oak frame

“Girls turn 3+4 on month apart, time flys, as do the fruitbats that fly over our home each evening.”

Saxon Quinn left this note on the back of the painting, and it explains the frantic energy on the front. This work isn't about perfect technique, it’s a raw, visual reaction to the speed of life. Quinn captures the chaos of watching his daughters grow up, mixing those family milestones with the daily sight of fruitbats flying on the sky at dusk.

The canvas is a map of a busy life. Instead of clean lines, you see oil stick scratches, splattered paint, stickers and rough numbers that look like they were pulled straight from a sidewalk or a kitchen wall. It’s a messy, honest celebration of a father trying to keep up with time as it pulls away from him.

Saxon Quinn, FRUIT SALAD, YUMMY YUMMY, 2026
Mixed media on canvas, 30 x 30 cm, oak frame

This work is part of our current solo exhibition, "PAREIDOLIA," by Australian artist Saxon Quinn. The title of the show refers to the human experience of seeing faces in random patterns. Quinn leans into this phenomenon, creating a playful yet complex dialogue between the viewer and the canvas. 🎨✨

In "FRUIT SALAD, YUMMY YUMMY," Quinn moves away from his more minimalist, graphite-heavy roots. He embraces a raw, high-energy palette of primary colors and thick textures. The face that emerges is a joyful explosion of shapes: hearts, a checkered smile, and fruit-like forms. It captures a sense of unfiltered creativity, like a child’s freedom but executed with a sophisticated understanding of composition and urban grit. 🍎🎈

Quinn’s process is deeply intuitive. He layers oil, oil stick, and mixed media to build a surface that looks like a piece of street art or a cherished memory. This work is a celebration of finding joy and recognizable patterns in the chaos of the everyday. It brings a bold, international perspective to our gallery walls. 🇦🇺🇩🇰

Ida Kvetny, Planet City, 2014🌌
Mixed media on canvas, 132 x 344 cm

This masterpiece by Ida Kvetny serves as a sprawling map of a subconscious world where traditional landscape painting meets a psychedelic, digital-age aesthetic. 🎨✨

Kvetny populates this blue-hued ecosystem with a dense vocabulary of symbols. Floating planets, totem-like structures, and mysterious portals emerge from a complex web of patterns. The work functions like a visual data stream. It captures the frantic energy of our modern world while maintaining a sense of ancient mythology. 👁️

The composition avoids a single focal point. It forces the eye to wander through a labyrinth of hidden narratives and architectural fragments. By merging organic forms with rigid, geometric shapes, Kvetny explores the tension between the natural mind and the structured environments we build for ourselves. 💙

Anders Moseholm, Rækker Ud på Tværs, 2026
Oil and acrylic on canvas, 200 x 300 cm

This large-scale forest scene by Anders Moseholm presents a landscape caught in motion. The tall, slender trees seem to vibrate or dissolve into the surrounding light. 🌫️

Moseholm works with a cinematic blur that strips away hard edges. He focuses on the atmosphere of the woods rather than the physical details of the branches. The path leading through the center is bathed in an ethereal white glow. It creates a sense of transition as if you are standing at the edge of a dream. ✨

By layering thin washes of color, Moseholm suggests a world that is constantly shifting. The title, meaning 'Reaching Across' points toward a connection being made across this vast, wooded space.

Michael Á Grømma, Jeg har fundet billeder og gemt i dine ting, 2026
Acrylic on wood panel, 37 x 30 cm

The title translates to "I have found pictures and hidden them in your things." This phrase captures the heart of Michael á Grømma’s solo exhibition, "Som jeg husker det" (As I Remember). 🗝️

In this work, the room functions as a living archive. Every item has a specific weight. The coffee mug, the small figurines on the shelf, and the reaching vines of the plants act as vessels for stories. Grømma gathers these objects to create a sanctuary where the past and present are no longer separate. By placing them all in one frame, he builds a space where his family can always coexist. 🪴☕

As the sole guardian of his family's history, Grømma uses vibrant and organic lines to show that memory is a lived-in experience. These hidden pictures tucked away among everyday items are his way of keeping a collective legacy alive. He proves that even the most modest trinket can hold the power of a lifetime. ❤️🎨
