DARK GALLERY CPH viser analog fotokunst. Vi er et slow-galleri med fokus på fordybelse, sanselighed og fortælling. Det er verdens første fotogalleri, hvor besøgende kan opleve håndprintet fotokunst i mørklagte lokaler – darkrooms. Det lyse udstillingsrum mod gaden viser skiftende udstillinger med fotodokumentarisme og kalejdoskopiske fotocollager. DARK GALLERY CPH is dedicated to analogue photography. We are a slow gallery offering immersive storytelling and sensual experience. It is the world’s first gallery where visitors can experience photography in the dark – in our darkrooms. Our day-lit gallery space facing the street hosts photo documentary exhibitions and kaleidoscopic art photo collages. We are currently looking for one new full partner and are also open to welcoming two new rookie partners.

You can join our gallery as and artist, creative professional, curator – or simply to explore your ideas and talents.

As a full partner, you can:
• Host solo exhibitions every year
• Take part in our official Copenhagen Photo Festival program
• Exhibit at other artist-run galleries across Europe
• Take part in group projects throughout the year
• Curate external artists
• Host workshops and events
• Keep 100% of your sales revenue

As a rookie partner, you can:

Coffee with the artists!

Join us on Sunday 20 September, 14:00–17:00, for an afternoon with the artists behind our current monster-themed exhibition.
Drop by, explore the exhibition, meet the artists – and enjoy a coffee with us.

Meet the artists:
Rickard Grönkvist (SE) works across photography, illustration and graphic design. Using strong flash, he amplifies the colours and graphic qualities of his subjects, transforming seemingly banal everyday scenes into images charged with new meanings, moods and associations.

Johan Rönnow (SE) works across social documentary photography, portraits of musicians and advertising. A love of music, dogs and general oddities runs through his practice, connecting otherwise very different subjects and photographic settings.

And don’t let the WRRC race keep you away! The gallery is easy to reach from Trianglen metro station, or you can hop on your bike and take the route along the lakes.

AI CREATIVES WANTED 👾

Want to give our Interactive Street Monster your own visual identity?

We’re inviting AI creatives to take over the Street Monster for two days, bringing their own visual style to an interactive installation in the street-facing window of Dark Gallery CPH, our artist-run gallery for lens-based art.

Your artwork will be featured for two days between 19 and 27 September this year.

HOW DOES THE MONSTER WORK?

Passers-by and gallery visitors use their phones to describe the monsters in their lives. Using AI, the installation taps into our darkest dreams and gives visual form to the things that haunt us.

During your takeover, the Monster will generate imagery using a visual style defined by you.

The installation itself is built entirely from discarded electronics rescued from bulky waste – right down to second-hand adapters sourced from Bazar under Broen in Nørrebro.

WHAT WE OFFER
We can’t offer a fee, but we can offer complete creative freedom and two days with the Street Monster as your canvas.

Monsters are moving into the gallery.

Drop by this weekend as we open our Monster shows, part of Golden Days Festival.

Artist-run Kran galleri from Malmö is crossing the bridge with a monstrous pop-up, while The Interactive Street Monster takes over our window – turning the monsters in your life into strange, haunting images and stories.

The Street Monster stays awake around the clock until 27 September, so you can meet it whenever you dare.

Come by in daylight – or wait until dark, when things get a little more monstrous.
