INVITATION

Du inviteres hermed til åbningen af udstillingen “A piece of land is a bar of gold” den 21.

Fernisering: 21. november 2025, kl. 17:00 - 21:00, kl. 19:00 koncert v. Lisen Larsen
Åbningstider: Åbent lørdage og søndage 12:00 - 15:00

Dissonance
By Ditte Marie Frost

Opening: Friday, May 9, 2025, 4 - 8 pm.
Exhibition period: May 9 - June 8, 2025
Opening hours: Thursday, Friday and Saturday and during the exhibition period, 12 - 2 p.m. or by appointment.

We are happy to present the visual artist Ditte Marie Frost at Cantina, where in the exhibition Dissonance she shows the series Father’s three hands, which examines power, trust, lopsided relations and the dark sides of society.

The exhibition Dissonance consists of three interconnected sculptures. The sculptures function as a series where they go under the same title “Father’s three hands”. All three of them take the form of two-meter-high hands, and in this way they mimic the viewer with their bodily size format.
Two of the sculptures function as right and left hands made of metal rods.
The two hands are playing together as three-dimensional lines that move around the room. The symmetry between them creates harmony and recognition.
The third sculpture cannot be immediately connected to the other two. The work consists of linen canvas and insect netting sewn together to form a bony and sinewy hand.
The composition of materials and figuration evokes associations with something discarded, like a stripped skin from an animal or a gloomy secret.

The exhibition is supported by the Municipality of Aarhus.

“....we enter the Flower Kiosk, like the northern light, through one of the two high square windows – an elegant, flush-fitting, interface between inside and outside – a surface on which the characteristic silver foil ceiling cladding (inside) and reflections of the surrounding winter branches (outside) coalesce, skin-like. The camera’s restless eye, pulls us inside, floating amongst the light fittings. Nothing functional is hidden.” - excerpt from the exhibition text by Simon Starling
