What You Get Is What You See

The current exhibition "mind your brain" (running until July 25, 2025) by atelierJAK sets the stage for a very special evening event: curatorial duo Johannes Krause-Schenk and Stephan Rößler (Kunstmuseum Reutlingen) will attempt to uncover all the secrets behind the work of artist duo Jangyoung Jung and Andreas Geisselhardt (atelierJAK), revealing their artistic strategies. This promises an entertaining retrospective on their body of work so far, as well as an exclusive preview of a new exhibition planned for the fall.

The play on words "What You Get Is What You See" touches on the central theme of JAK, who suffers from visual agnosia and appears as a kind of main character in the duo's work. Due to his inability to recognize objects despite having intact vision, JAK becomes a stand-in figure for perceptual psychology and phenomenological discourse—topics that are central to atelierJAK’s artistic practice and are further explored in their extensive film project titled "Soul Blindness."
