Some pictures of my recent guitar. The soundboard is made out of cedar with Madagascar rosewood back and sides.

I'm back in the workshop now after some guitar exhibitions and a vacation at the Baltic sea.

Looking forward to start my new guitars next week.

Working on the soundboard. The Groove-Top construction is part wise very thin. You can see the light shine through the spruce top. Interestingly you wouldn't see the structure on a cedar top of the same construction, due to the cedars lack of transparency.

While working on my guitar tops I regularly measure the main top resonance frequency and the deflection.

The Zig-Zag mosaics are quite a lot of work. First, the veneers must be glued, then sawn and calibrated. These parts are then sorted and glued. At the end, one purfling consists of about 1500 three-layer elements. For sorting, I first attach the elements to an adhesive tape, then the whole thing is glued with PU glue.

Die Zig-Zag Mosaike sind Recht aufwändig. Zuerst müssen die Furniere verleimt werden, dann aufgesägt und kalibriert. Diese Teile werden dann sortiert und verleimt. Ein Span besteht am Ende aus etwa 1500 dreilagigen Elementen.
Zum sortieren hefte ich die Elemente erstmal auf ein Klebeband, dann wird das ganze mit PU-leim verleimt.

Guitar exhibiting at the Zagreb guitar festival - very beautiful location at the Museum Mimara

Restoration of a Locote guitar build in 1827. The pictures showing the guitar before and after the restoration. It was a challenging project back in 2017. The soundboard had a few cracks, the neck was about to come off, the bridge was in the wrong position, pegs were lost, and so on.
Maybe I will share a few more details in the next days.
I follow the channel by Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration and enjoy his content pretty much. It inspired me to share some of the restoration work I did.

Wonderful concert

Yesterday I heard a wonderful concert by Aran Choi. She played Bach, Sor, Ponce, Piazzolla, Torroba and Rodrigo quiet beautifully.

My personal favorite was the Concierto de Aranjuez. The guitar and the piano were very well balanced and it was played absolute fantastic!

Thank you Aran for this great evening!

By the way, Aran played on her Heinzelmann guitar. It is a 2014 made groovetop, spruce guitar.
