🎉 Happy 80th Birthday, Magdalena Jetelová! 🎉
Today, we celebrate the remarkable artist Magdalena Jetelová, whose visionary work has shaped the international art world for decades.
Through her monumental sculptures, large-scale installations, laser projections, and land art projects, Jetelová has continuously redefined the relationship between art, architecture, landscape, and society. She is widely recognized as a pioneer in integrating new technologies—including laser light into her artistic practice.
In the Czech Republic, she developed a powerful artistic language shaped by the experiences of postwar Europe and the political transformations of her homeland. Her works often explore themes of power, space, memory, and social change.
In Germany, where she continued her career after moving in 1985, she created many of her most influential projects. As a professor at leading art academies in Düsseldorf and Munich, she inspired and mentored generations of young artists, leaving a lasting impact on contemporary art education and practice.
Internationally, Jetelová gained acclaim for iconic works such as Place (“The Giant’s Chair”), her spectacular laser interventions in natural landscapes, Domestication of the Pyramid, and environmentally focused projects addressing climate, nature, and humanity’s relationship with the planet. Her work has been presented at major international exhibitions and institutions across Europe, North America, and beyond, including the prestigious documenta.
Her art makes the invisible visible—revealing geological boundaries, political tensions, environmental transformations, and the profound connections between people and place.
✨ We warmly congratulate Magdalena Jetelová on her 80th birthday and thank her for an extraordinary body of work that continues to inspire audiences across borders and generations.
