I Tori Di Torre
°
A play on words that only works in Italian: „The Bulls of Torre del Lago“ (literal translation).
°
I met these three very likable young men on the beach.
°
Damiano (right) and Davide (left) are brothers; Mirko is in the middle.
They are both very warm-hearted and open young men, and after I showed them my photos, we spontaneously decided to take some pictures together.
Many thanks again to Damiano (Dami), Davide (Davide Tolu) in the middle is Mirko, a mutual friend of theirs.
°
Summer is also a time to show off—and in a sense, celebrate—one’s body and skin.
I am far from comparing myself to their physiques, and I would advise others against doing so, too.
Loving your own body is far more important.
°
Independently of these handsome young men, I decided to pay even closer attention to my diet and exercise even more than before.
Having trained extensively with a personal trainer for several years, I know what is possible.
Right now, I’m trying to get the absolute best out of my body again.
°
I’m 10 kg lighter now; I can feel the training taking effect, and I’m slowly starting to like what I see in the mirror again.
It’s a process; regular exercise creates its own momentum and naturally leads to setting new goals.

Wishing you all a wonderful day and a great rest of the week!

Refreshing
I am one of those people who keep returning to the places they love.
°
This summer, I spent a few days back at a beach in Tuscany.
°
I happened to run into Davide (Davide Tolu), his brother Damiano (Dami), and Mirko (Mirko Stefani) there.
They introduced me to their entire group of friends, who were enjoying the summer at this beach together with their families.
°
I showed them my photos, and they were excited about the idea of me taking pictures of them.
°
In this series, I’m sharing some shots from the session we did one afternoon in the scorching beach heat.
Davide (Davide Tolu) is pictured in this photo.
°
I wish you all a great start to the new week!

Perspectives from the Shadow
°
This photo was taken while I was lying in the shade on my deck chair, capturing my surroundings.
°
A young man is lying in the sand in the blazing sun.
Wouldn’t we love to know what the young man really looks like? – That is the allure of intriguing concealment.
°
I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

The Transparent Veil
°
Evening has fallen. The sun is still glaring, and the waves reflect the colorless light.
°
A young man enters the water, picking up the rhythm of the incoming waves.
°
It was only when looking at the photo that I realized what it reminded me of:
Marble sculptures that—thanks to supreme sculptural skill—appear to be draped in a transparent veil.
°
What is truly amazing is that, when viewing these artworks, it looks as though a veil has been placed over the face, even though the entire piece consists of a single block of marble. I did some research on this; it was even the subject of a scientific study showing how our senses influence our perception.
°
My attention was drawn back to this topic—which has always fascinated me—by Markus_geschwind, who posted a photo a few days ago of the sculpture *The Veiled Sarah*.
It is a work by Andrea Corradini, dating from around 1720. Anyone interested in this subject is welcome to check out Markus’s post.
°
I wish you all a relaxing Sunday and hope your mood is just as cheerful as the weather!

Sunny prospects
°
For many, summer also means showing off and celebrating one’s own body.
°
Some people lie in the sun, while others groan in the heat.
°
Although I love being by the sea, I haven’t actually sunbathed to get a tan for years; I much prefer the shade.
°
I also find it too boring just to lie around doing nothing, so I always have something to read with me—and sometimes my camera, too.
°
I took this photo at the beach out of sheer boredom, more or less—I was simply capturing my surroundings with my camera. :-)
°
I wish you all a great start to the new week!

Roberto. – Embrace yourself!
°
Loving others likely requires loving oneself first.
°
In the photo, Roberto appears to be hugging himself.
°
It was a spontaneous pose, captured during my last visit to Florence—in the Chianti region, in the hills overlooking the city—on a hot summer day.
°
A big thank you to Roberto (Roberto Nappa) for posing for me!
°
I wish you all a wonderful day and a great start to a relaxing weekend!

The Evergreen
°
While strolling through a small park in Florence during the summer heat, I spotted this magnificent, stately magnolia tree.
°
High up, I could make out the beautiful white blossoms gleaming in the brilliant sunlight.
Of all the magnolias, this is the one that captivates me the most.
°
Originally from the southeastern United States, it is known as the “Southern Magnolia”—or simply “Magnolia”—because it is so characteristic of the Southern states.
The photo also shows the tree’s seed pod. When it dries out, geranium-red seeds are revealed—if you’re lucky.
°
Just as I was taking these shots, Roberto appeared as if out of nowhere. We hadn’t seen each other for a year, so we arranged to meet a few days later in the Chianti region—in the hills above Florence—to take some photos of him.
That meeting resulted in the images I will be presenting in this trilogy.
°
Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Roberto
°
The hot, dry air of Florence was blowing right into my face.
°
That’s why I was so glad to drive up the winding little roads into the Chianti region.
Up there, with the magnificent view of the Arno Valley and the city, it felt more bearable.
°
I had arranged to meet Roberto, and we enjoyed cold, homemade gelato at the ice cream parlor in the small town.
°
As the sun began to dip lower, we decided to take a few photos.
I had photographed Roberto a year earlier, and it was interesting to see how both of us had evolved and changed.
°
A big thank you to Roberto (Roberto Nappa) for posing for me!
°
Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday!!

George Bailey – The Earring - Men’s adornment
°
During the photo shoot, George closed his eyes for a moment and sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” It deeply moved us all.
This photo captured that moment.
°
It was a great pleasure for me to meet George in person.
Born in the USA, the charismatic ballet pianist came to Germany and was invited by John Cranko for the Stuttgart Ballet in 1972. George Bailey became a favorite of world-renowned choreographers; John Neumeier and Maurice Béjart insisted on working with him as their pianist.
°
After accompanying Stuttgart Ballet dancers on the piano for over 40 years, he remains active as a jazz musician to this day.
°
George wears a gold earring that showcases the diversity of men’s adornment and demonstrates that jewelry knows no age limits.
This is also a key theme of the upcoming special exhibition *Zier & Zeichen: Was Männer schmückt* (“Decoration & Symbols: What Adorns Men”) at the Landesmuseum Württemberg (Landesmuseum Württemberg).
°
My special thanks go to George and all the “models” for their patience and permission to photograph them, as well as to the organizers, curators, and the many others involved in this special exhibition who made it possible. I especially thank Dr. Astrid Fendt Astrid Fendt, Sissi Kalpakidou sissi_kalpakidou, and Lucie Boettger for their kind support.

Alexander Reik – Rings: Tokens of Favor, Remembrance, and Identity
°
Rings are among the most popular pieces of jewelry for men; consequently, this subject cannot be overlooked in the upcoming special exhibition *Zier & Zeichen: Was Männer schmückt* (“Decoration & Symbols: What Adorns Men”) at the Landesmuseum Württemberg (Landesmuseum Württemberg).
°
In this photo, we see three completely different rings on Alexander Reik’s hands, each with its own unique story and holds its own special significance.
°
The Token of Favor – A Brooch Becomes a Ring (right):
This ring was originally a brooch; however, because the clasp was in a very poor state of repair, Alexander decided to have it converted into a ring.
The brooch (c. 1880) was likely originally a gift from King Ludwig II of Bavaria to a high-ranking favorite..
°
Remembrance – Ave Maria
The ring in the center of the photo: When Alexander was inducted into the Marian Men’s Congregation in Altoetting in 2016, he acquired this ring as a memento of that special event. The inscription is the “Ave Maria” prayer in Latin.
°
The Family Coat of Arms – The Bourgeoisie versus the Nobility
Left: This ring displays Alexander Reik’s family coat of arms. In 1910, the coat of arms design was approved by the heraldic authority.
The era was shaped by Historicism but also reflected the emancipation of the rising, affluent middle class, which sought parity with the nobility.
°
My special thanks go to Alexander and all the “models” for their patience and permission to photograph them, as well as to the organizers, curators, and the many others involved in this special exhibition who made it possible. I especially thank Dr. Astrid Fendt Astrid Fendt, Sissi Kalpakidou sissi_kalpakidou, and Lucie Boettger for their kind support.
