Everything-in-Air, the first solo exhibition at the gallery by New York-based artist Victoria Keddie.

At the center of the exhibition is the ongoing video installation Electrona in Crystallo Fluenti (40.7128° N, 74.0060° W). Drawing on real-time data from orbiting satellites, the work translates the movement of objects in orbit into image and sound, making otherwise hidden networks of technological communication perceptible.

The four-channel video is distributed along the walls, detailing live animated sessions with debris-in-orbit.

Through live composition and real-time interaction with orbiting debris, Keddie enters this orbital space, using NASA-provided data to track debris in real-time orbit over specific coordinates.

The print series are made from visualized debris in orbit through customized 3D software. The debris—unidentifiable fragments collected from sessions over New Hampshire and locations around the world—appears as shifting points in space. Here, color functions as an aperture, alternately obscuring and revealing our view.

Everything-in-Air addresses an increasingly important yet largely invisible subject: the growing use of near-Earth space by satellites and the consequences of this development for our environment and everyday lives. Working at the intersection of art and research, Victoria Keddie collaborates with NASA and ESA and is pursuing a PhD at the Sonic Arts Research Centre at Queen’s University Belfast.

At the centre of the exhibition is her video installation Electrona in Crystallo Fluenti (ECF) (40.7128° N, 74.0060° W) (2022–ongoing), based on real-time satellite data from NASA. Keddie developed software to process data on objects in orbit and translate their movements into visual and acoustic structures. The work records not only active satellites, but also defunct satellites, rocket stages and fragments moving around the Earth at high speed. In her work, these remnants of technological systems become a moving archive of human activity in space.

Near-Earth orbit is no longer an untouched sphere. Thousands of satellites and a large amount of debris are constantly moving around the Earth. Keddie’s work makes this human-made environment tangible, bringing attention to an infrastructure indispensable to communication, navigation, observation and everyday technologies, while remaining beyond our immediate perception.

About the Artist

Victoria Keddie is a New York-based interdisciplinary artist working across sound, video, installation, performance and research. She investigates the architectures of communication and asks how noise and interference shape human perception and experience.

Keddie is a Lecturer and Director of the Spatial Sound Lab at the University of Pennsylvania. Her work has been presented internationally, including at MoMA, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Barbican Centre.

Final week of NUDES by Erik Olson.

Thick with cigarette smoke and a fridge full of b**r, the life drawing studio at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf became the unlikely starting point for one of Erik Olson’s most significant bodies of work. As a guest student in Peter Doig’s class, Olson spent countless hours drawing from life, producing a series that would continue to evolve over the following years.

Bringing together 40 oil pastel drawings, NUDES reveals a remarkable immediacy of colour and gesture. Installed throughout the gallery, the figures unfold in a sequence that oscillates between the timeless presence of classical sculpture and the fragility of paper, preserving traces of time and the artist’s studio, the place where invention begins.

Bringing together 40 oil pastel drawings, NUDES unfolds as a sequence of figures whose poses and individual presence may evoke both classical beauty and sculptural monumentality, as well as the visual language of a fashion editorial. At the same time, the works demonstrate a profound engagement with the material qualities of oil pastel and paper—a fragile surface that serves not only as a carrier, but as a space where ideas emerge and take shape.

The drawings preserve the traces of their making: the immediacy of rough, expressive strokes, the trace of the hand, and the marks of the studio itself. Stains, imperfections, and even torn edges of the paper become part of the work, allowing the process of creation to remain visible. Through a radical reduction of the figure to form, colour, and gesture, Olson reveals a raw yet pure quality—an existential dimension in which each image becomes less a depiction than a fundamental expression of being.

NUDES was developed over several years, beginning during Erik Olson’s time as a guest student in Peter Doig’s class at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2014–2015. The series reflects an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of oil pastel, drawing, and the figure.

Erik Olson (b. 1982, Canada) is known for his exploratory approach to art. Born in Calgary, Olson graduated from Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver in 2007 and later attended the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in 2014–2015. His work has been exhibited across Canada, the United States, and Europe, including presentations at Contemporary Calgary and the Glenbow Museum, and is included in the permanent collections of the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Royal Bank of Canada, The Toronto-Dominion Bank, and the Ivey Business School.

Views from »Travelling Light« by David Matthew King, currently on view in New York’s Lower East Side.

The exhibition unfolds like a series of encounters with figures and places that seem to exist between worlds. Through paintings and text-based works, King creates moments of suspension: where what is missing remains present, where imagined places feel familiar, and where stories continue beyond what is visible.

GOLESTANI is pleased to present NUDES, an exhibition of 40 works on paper by Erik Olson.

Created in Düsseldorf and developed over several years, these intimate oil pastel drawings trace the artist’s enduring engagement with the human figure. Installed together, they reveal both the rigor of observation and the freedom of gesture.
