In their exhibition „BUSINESS CLASS,“ Jody Korbach, Anna Ley, and Konstitutiv der Möglichkeiten present the energy-infused class climb, sold in colorful tin cans, with or without sugar. The main thing is caffeine, the main thing is energy, the main thing is flying: from Working Class to Business Class, it’s just 32mg per 100ml.

How to Collect Art: Karel Tutsch Story, at the Gallery of Modern Art in Hradec Králové on 27th of April, on Suturday at 3pm. Curated by Petra Prikazska


The exhibition will present the lifelong work of Karel Tutsch (1941–2008), a connoisseur, collector and unorthodox tireless supporter of young artists, who for more than a quarter of a century ran at his own expense the gallery „Na bidýlku“ (1986-2008) and contributed to the promotion of Czech art abroad and vice versa. The exhibition will be a reconstruction of Tutsch’s journey from an amateur collector of small prints and ex libris to an acknowledged connoisseur and owner of one of the most important collections of his time.

Lena Schramm is part of the group exhibition "intransito" in Sant Antoni, Ibiza, on display until April 21st.

Using her own wooden trolly within the allowed dimensions of a PRIORITY luggage piece, she transports the four artworks to the island, thus addressing the curatorial framework of the exhibition, which navigates between club culture, water scarcity, and mass tourism.

Lena Schramm's painting from the "Dosierer" series explores the connection between party culture, consumer society, and happiness, particularly in the context of the party destination Sant Antonio. By depicting ecstasy tablets adorned with logos of airlines, clubs, and other brands, she creates an intriguing link between party commerce and the aesthetics of consumer goods, prompting reflection on the intertwining of hedonism and capitalism.

The paintings of Daniel Peder Askeland can be viewed in many ways, but they are always tied to landscapes. Askeland repeatedly reimagines and diversifies landscape elements over time. His painting gesture ranges from light and orderly surfaces to impulsive, raw brushstrokes.

Similar to topographic maps, his paintings depict abstracted excerpts, yet from an individual perspective and distance, with diffuse perspectives and figurative hints. His paintings do not serve orientation. The motifs want to break out of or into the format.

With contrasting colorfulness, Askeland defines places; Lurking in the forest is something unconscious, mysterious, a dark memory from long ago, a scrap of reality from a dream.

This is the first solo exhibition in the gallery.

Daniel Peder Askeland

Daniel Peder Askeland (born 1985 in Lørenskog, Norway) lives and works in Copenhagen.

The paintings of Daniel Peder Askeland can be viewed in many ways, but they are always tied to landscapes. Askeland repeatedly reimagines and diversifies landscape elements over time. His painting gesture ranges from light and orderly surfaces to impulsive, raw brushstrokes.

Similar to topographic maps, his paintings depict abstracted excerpts, yet from an individual perspective and distance, with diffuse perspectives and figurative hints. His paintings do not serve orientation. The motifs want to break out of or into the format.

With contrasting colorfulness, Askeland defines places; Lurking in the forest is something unconscious, mysterious, a dark memory from long ago, a scrap of reality from a dream.

This is the first solo exhibition in the gallery.

„Wer wir den gleich in die Luft gehen…“

The artist (*born1996 in Wiesbaden) lives and works in Düsseldorf.

Many people still know the answer immediately: the „HB-Männchen“, the cartoon character who, by 1984, had already been sent into retirement. Since the late 1950s, the man of indeterminate age, drawn in simple strokes by the cartoonist Roland Töpfer, had become one of the best-known German advertising figures, but he became out of step with the spirit of the times. For the most popular cigarette brand in Germany, people wanted a modern, positive, more heroic figure, not a petty bourgeois „little man“ prone to grotesque, choleric outbursts. In the advertising films, his attempts to settle down in his bourgeois idyll always led to chaos and (self-)destruction, until a God-like voice intervened from off-screen. With an invitation to first smoke a cigarette of the brand in question, the problems sorted themselves out as if by magic. Especially in an age of collective continuous excitation, the impulse to first relax, to create a little emotional distance and to think things over seems charming. And actually, the cigarette break does follow its own rules, it sets its own time frame, within which it allows a degree of deceleration and reflection, and thus harbours a certain subversive potential.

One tragic footnote remains to be added: Roland Töpfer outlived his character by 15 years. He died when he was hit by his own car while trying to check the oil level. He had long since given up smoking.
