Anna Ehrenstein has developed a decolonial and collaborative approach to art, questioning narratives reinforced through digital culture and challenging Western-centric perspectives throughout her practice.

In her exhibition "The Language of the Soil", the artist examines how contemporary technologies continue patterns of extraction, dependency, and unequal labor rooted in colonial histories.

Developed in close collaboration with researchers, activists, artists, and digital workers across Nairobi, Cairo, Berlin, and beyond, the exhibition traces the hidden human labor behind AI and global tech systems, and how this work takes a toll on individual lives.

On view until 12 June.

With “587 Blitze” (587 Flashes), Bob Jones pushes photographic self-portraiture beyond the familiar idea of the selfie. Built on custom pinhole cameras and a complex flash setup, the work sits between analog and digital, where image and body appear at the same time and control is never complete.

For months, the photographer worked in a strict rhythm of studio sessions and darkroom work. Ten flash units, extreme light, and a carefully constructed system shaped a process that was demanding and precise. Each exposure creates a moment of simultaneity, where the smartphone flash burns the body onto photographic paper while the image is recorded digitally.

On view from 6 June as part of the Emerging Berlin talent program, “587 Blitze” presents the process and results of Bob Jones’ self-portrait project.

Join us at the opening of the exhibition as part of our Emerging Artist Party on 5 June, with an introduction and reading by the artist. More info & free tickets via link in bio.

The exhibition was curated by Marie-Luise Mayer (Exhibitions Manager at Fotografiska Berlin), in collaboration with the artist, and produced in partnership with IFA Berlin and Volkswagen R, with the kind cooperation of our photography print partner WhiteWall.

Bruce Gilden's exhibition is called "Why These?", and it's a question worth asking. How do these 41 photographs represent the legendary street photographer's 50-plus-year career?

"Why These?" points to both the images he selected and the people within them, often on the margins of society. It traces his aesthetic evolution and pays tribute to outsiders and strong personalities.

On view until 23 August, the selection brings together works from his first photographic essay in Coney Island that started in 1969, the intensity of his New York street photography in the 1980s, long-term projects in Haiti and Japan, and his later shift to digital color after 2013.

What makes a place feel like home? A family photo in the front yard, a late-night celebration in the living room or a holiday snapshot kept for decades in a drawer? These moments feel familiar, yet who took them remains unknown.

That's exactly the subject of “No Place Like Home”, presented by The Anonymous Project, initiated by Lee Shulman.

The artist has spent years gathering nearly one million abandoned slides through The Anonymous Project, assembling one of the largest private archives of analog amateur photography in the world. Stripped of names and places, these images move beyond individual stories into something shared, nostalgic and familiar.

On view from 20 June, “No Place Like Home” shows around 12,000 images selected by Lee Shulman and compressed into an installation that literally feels like stepping inside a house you might once have lived in.

🗓️ Save the date: opening & artist talk with Lee Shulman on 19 June. More details coming soon.

The exhibition is curated by Claire Ducresson-Boët, Exhibitions Manager at Fotografiska Berlin, in close collaboration with the artist.

Happy birthday to , one of the most influential photographers of our time. He has shaped how we see music, film, and many iconic cultural figures. 🎉 We had the pleasure of meeting him in Berlin less than 2 weeks ago for the opening of his new exhibition “Corbijn, Anton”.

Some of his work is closely tied to Berlin’s music scene, where he photographed and collaborated with artists like Einstürzende Neubauten and Depeche Mode. In the exhibition, you will encounter these works and many more, including iconic portraits of legends like Tom Waits, U2, the Rolling Stones, Martin Scorsese, and Marlene Dumas, as well as German icons Nina Hagen, Herbert Grönemeyer, and Wim Wenders.

Take a journey through five decades of his work. Discover not only his most recognizable images, but also a more personal, rarely seen selection of his favorite pieces.

On view until 20 September.

There’s a rawness to Bruce Gilden’s street photography that comes from someone not afraid of the streets. His subjects stare straight into the lens, both sides unafraid. He shows us people and situations we usually pass in a blink.

Don’t just take our word for it, see “Why These?” until 23 August.
