SVĚTOVA 1 is a nonprofit artist-run space focusing on emerging, queer and social matters. It is a holistic entity that through shows and public programs reacts to the current events in the world. Its goal is to fully express, achieve a complete sustainability, practice radical inclusivity, and offer a refuge for those in need. Striving to be an institution. A healthy one, not like the ones you used to know. OPENING HOURS:
Open during shows and events. Specified in the current event description.
——————————————————————

Otevřeno během výstav a akcí. Konkrétní doba v popisku aktuální události.

☄︎₊˚⊹☆ 3…2…1…get ready for the launch of our upcoming exhibition “Burden of Gravity – From Waking to Space”.

🗓️18.9.—31.10.2026

Through a variety of artistic approaches, it explores gravity not only as a physical force, but also as a principle that shapes our relationships, our sense of direction, and the ways we perceive the world. What draws us in, what keeps us grounded, and what allows us to break free from established
structures?

The exhibition opens up a space for reflection on bodily, affective, and social
forms of gravity and the imagination as a possibility for transforming established
perspectives.

The exhibition presents the results of the As We Grow 2026 – educational and research program, led by artist and mythopoet András Cséfalvay.

To everyone who signed the open letter, wrote a personal letter to the minister, shared our story, donated, showed up, or simply stood by our side – thank you. This victory belongs to all of us. You demonstrated that when independent culture unites, it cannot be ignored, sidelined, or silenced.

Over 460 cultural workers, artists, academics, institutions and our neighbours spoke up. Journalists in the Czech Republic covered the story. We filed the paperwork and together applied pressure. It worked.

So while we celebrate today, we must remain vigilant tomorrow. We’ll monitor developments and support those facing pressure after us. And we’ll remember that this success wasn’t achieved by a single organisation fighting alone. It was a community that refused to turn a blind eye.

Together, we have the strength to survive.
Thank you for being that community.
