Monte Festa

Monte Festa stands on a dominant peak, 800 meters above the surrounding valleys.

Armed with four 149 mm turret guns and an open battery, it lacked proper infantry defense—only a few dozen ri**es and one outdated machine gun.

Originally meant to be disarmed, everything changed after the breakthrough at Battle of Caporetto.

Under Captain Winderling, the garrison held out against overwhelming forces. With limited communication and supplies, they kept firing on bridges, railways, and enemy movements in the valley.

When the machine gun failed, they threw rocks.

Encircled and out of am******on, the defenders destroyed their own guns. One of their final shots detonated an enemy am******on depot near Tolmezzo.

Monte Festa surrendered only when there was nothing left to fight with.

Large Fortress

You could say I hardly know a country that didn’t fortify its borders before World War II. Clearly, everyone could sense that something serious was in the air—just like in this case.
One massive fortress—considering how long it has been abandoned, it’s in absolutely incredible condition.

!!! If you know where it’s located, please keep that information to yourself. Let’s protect these places from vandalism. !!!

Have you ever been somewhere like this? Let me know!

Soviet Open Air Museum of Petru Costin

is a private open-air museum in Moldova founded by collector Petru Costin. The exhibition features a large collection of Soviet-era statues, busts, and symbols — including monuments of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov. It also includes historical vehicles such as Soviet microcars known as “invalidka,” produced by SMZ. The museum offers a unique insight into Soviet propaganda and public art that disappeared from the streets after the fall of the USSR.

Cold War in Greece

After the end of WWII, it was still necessary to defend the territorial integrity of Greece. Therefore, the Metaxas Line was reactivated and supplemented with additional fortification structures.

In this case, we are looking at a structure designed for an M18 “Hellcat” tank turret, connected to an extensive underground complex.
